My recent trip to Scotland to show my son around made me realise how much some things have changed, non more than Skye, here floating in the sea. My first trip in the 70's included many single-track roads, ferries, pot holes, few if any places to eat. We had to write a letter to the owner of the Glen Brittle hut to prove we were genuine and trustworthy....the 'shop' there was in a little house over a tiny footbridge. There were no coffee shops and maybe a few hotels with a bar, but barely a pub. There were no carparks at the 'honeypots' as there are now, and few paths into the hills....you found your own way. Now, on Skye, basically, it's the opposite of all of those things. Better???...well, in some ways, but I preferred the true magic of a world apart, even though you couldn't get a decent coffee!!
The blue planet. It's only blue because particles in the atmosphere bend light so that it appears blue.
Blue is my favorite colour. It's a colour that occurs in nature and it's also the colour of the cross in the Finnish flag.
Water is usually depicted as blue, even though it has no colour. Why does it look blue then? Because it reflects the colour of the sky, which appears blue because of those particles.
Many things aren't what they look like. Like this photo, the landscape in it. It exists because of my vision, not because I stumbled upon a view and captured that with my camera.
If you come visit Tampere, this exact view doesn't exist anywhere.
Reality is what we make it. There are things you can't control and things you can. Give up the pursuit of being in full control and embrace the randomness. How things appear to you is a matter of choice, a matter of attitude and perspective. Just like in photography, your point of view can make a huge difference.
Having something you can be in control of can help cope with a devastating event. I lost my mother very recently and photography has been the way to go for me.

Every sunset is a bit sad, don't you think? The end of yet another day in which we lived on this beautiful blue planet Earth. Maybe an end to a friendship or love can be associated with it too? Challenged myself this weekend to do some water drop photography after seeing a photo of a water drop with a map behind it on FB. Process wasn't too hard but it did take some time to figure out how to get the hot spots from showing up. Finally decided to put the speed-light behind the map and it worked fine. Hope everyone on flickr is having a great weekend! :-)
