Dogwood trees are finally in bloom. These blooms show the exquisite detail and beauty that nature provides. Pink dogwoods are my favorites.

Hi There!

I thought it would be great fun to increase vibrancy and add some effects to a group of tulips. The blooms were already bold, but I wanted them bolder! Happy Sliders Sunday! HSS!

Editing and effects were done in Topaz Studio.

Thank you for stopping by and for your comments. I do appreciate hearing from you! Have a wonderful day!

At dusk I spotted this Iceberg bloom and with heavy overnight autumn rain it is now wrecked.

A very rare high desert bloom from Spring2019

I created my own texture from a blurred pasture with Queen Anne's lace.

Plumeria is a genus of eleven species of shrubs and small trees in the dogbane family (Apocynaceae) native to tropical America from Brazil to Mexico and the Caribbean. With common names of plumeria and frangipani, a few species and hybrids are grown as ornamentals in tropical and sub-tropical areas worldwide for the attractive and fragrant flowers. The name frangipani comes from the name of a 16th century Italian nobleman who created a perfume with a similar scent.

Flower colors include pink, red, white, and yellow, or pastel bicolors. The flowers are very fragrant, with a scent including hints of jasmine, citrus, and gardenia. Since they are pollinated by night-flying sphinx moths, the flowers really begin to release their fragrance in the evening, but they can still have a lovely floral scent at other times.

Sorry it's another rose !!!!!

Our Garden

Linnaea × grandiflora, synonym Abelia × grandiflora, is a hybrid Linnaea, raised by hybridising L. chinensis with L. uniflora. It is a deciduous or semi evergreen multistemmed shrub with rounded, spreading, or gracefully arching branches to 1 to 1.8 m tall. The leaves are ovate, glossy, dark green, and 2–6 cm long. The flowers are produced in clusters, white, tinged pink, bell-shaped, to 2 cm long. Unlike most flowering shrubs in cultivation, the species blooms from late summer to well into the autumn. 33130

Rhododendron is a genus of 1,024 species of woody plants in the heath family (Ericaceae), either evergreen or deciduous, and found mainly in Asia, although it is also widespread throughout the lowland and montane forests of the Pacific Northwest, California, and the highlands of the Appalachian Mountains of North America. Most species have brightly coloured flowers which bloom from late winter through to early summer. Azaleas are subgenera of Rhododendron. 10620

Protea is both the botanical name and the English common name of a genus of South African flowering plants, sometimes also called sugarbushes or fynbos. The family is Proteaceae. In local tradition, the protea flower represents change and hope. The extraordinary richness and diversity of species characteristic of the Cape flora are thought to be caused in part by the diverse landscape, where populations can become isolated from each other and in time develop into separate species. The main vectors responsible for the transfer of pollen in protea cultivation are birds, insects, and wind. Some Protea species exhibit both self-pollination and cross-pollination as a method of reproduction. Cross-pollination is preferred, though, as a method of reproduction because it provides genetic diversity in the population. When cultivating proteas, breeders use hand pollination as a controlled method to transfer pollen from one flower to another. Proteas usually flower during spring. The general structure of their flower heads consists of a mass of flowers on a woody receptacle. The ovary is protected by the receptacle, thus is not seen when looking at the flower, but the anthers are present at the top of the flower, which can then easily transfer the pollen to the vectors. 11113

Tune

Yesterday, was a very long day in the warehouse. Slowly but surely, we are clearing away 30 years of theatrical props, and costumes.

It was such a welcome relief to come home to some pretty tulips, and a window full of bright late day sunshine.

I enjoy color so much that the RGB levels in my digital paintbox get used regularly.

Last night, after looking at my yellow tulips from all angles and in all shades, I decided to go for this rich cabernet tone.

Not to improve upon God's work, mind you, because as a botanist, He rules. I just like experimenting.

I will dedicate this one to God, who has blessed me with sunshine and colors. With every beam of light, whether by sun, by moon, or by human, I feel His love. And His love comes in so many fascinating shades and colors. Amen.
