Yesterday I bought New Stitches No 197 magazine as there is an interesting idea by Mary Hickmott there - Blackwork butterflies in Caron Wildflowers thread.
I think true Blackwork is about pattern & tonal values in one colour but as I have some Caron thread I'm stitching a sample.
Later .... see completed piece,
New design just finished! Original pattern, inspired by a 16th-cent. Italian piece currently in the Hermitage, St Petersburg.
Black on white, over 1 on 18-count.
I used a Blackwork pattern and added Lazy daisies.
Because this is done as a Back stitching exercise, the reverse side is not as neat.
Threads used are DMC green crochet cotton and variegated ..oh oh..either Sassa Lynne or Stef Francis.
In 2020 I joined a stitching group on Facebook called Peppermint Purple. It was created by a designer in UK named Clare. She has an online shop with the same name where you can buy kits and/or patterns created by her. This is a SAL (stitchalong) in which she shared a part of the design each Wednesday throughout the year. Each stitcher chose fabric and floss colors and border choices.
