A heavily modified off-road vehicle parked along the streets of Bar, Montenegro. Equipped with oversized all-terrain tires, recovery gear, roof-mounted camping equipment, and expedition accessories, it looks ready to leave the pavement behind and head into the mountains. A perfect example of the growing overlanding culture that combines travel, self-sufficiency, and adventure. Captured on a sunny day in Bar with the Nikon Z6.
While watching Blue Whales feed out beyond the kelp beds, at Pacific Valley, Big Sur, I noticed a Turkey Vulture flying low over the area. Then it landed near the edge of Highway 1. When I put my glass on it, I noted that a Red-tailed hawk was eating prey at the same spot. I started to hike up the road to get a shot when this big black SUV came whizzing by, flushing the Turkey Vulture from the site of the kill. I captured several images of both the Vulture and Hawk but thought this was the most interesting. Turkey Vultures are carrion feeders and locate their food by smell.
