I visited the Oltu Bazar in Erzurum, Anatolia in Turkey where shops sell jewelry made of “Oltu Stone”, also called "Erzurum stone", which is mined in villages in the mountains near the city. It is a black gemstone made from fossilized trees subjected to high pressure during geological folding. A woman in a black chador is sitting in the doorway.

One of my cousins recently gave birth to twins. During the pregnancy, she and her hubby kept referring to them as their "Two Little Monkeys." That is the inspiration for this card. She had twin boys, so a baby blue background was chosen.
BoBunny Double-Dot paper as the card base. Hero Arts S5215 Clouds for the background. Hero Arts CL155 Playful Animals for the palm leaves and monkeys, which are HARD to cut out! Tree trunks made from S5208 Designer Woodgrain. "Congrats" sentiment from Hero Arts CL371 Essential Messages. All stamps from Hero Arts 2010 catalog; CL155 Playful Animals are shown on page 17.
The monkeys are hanging from a "vine" strung between the two palms. I made the "vine" from embroidery floss and dyed it with Walnut Stain Distress Ink.
Clouds background was cut and embossed using Spellbinders Nestabilities Curved Rectangles in my Cuttlebug. I accented the edge using a silver paint pen. Googly eyes and black gemstone noses added for fun and silliness. Clouds matte, palm trees, and monkeys raised on foam tape for dimension. Monkeys attached to the "vine" with Glossy Accents.

this one is a bit larger than my average claws so i was able to make a larger cap and use a larger 8mm x 10mm black star diopside.
This card is my example for my SOF11 Double Take Challenge. The challenge is to make two impressions of the same stamp using white tissue paper to get the original, forward version and a reversed, mirror image. Then you use the pair together on a card, like the foxes shown here.
SOF11 stands for Stamptoberfest 2011. Basically, it is a bunch of challenges for stampers by stampers, over at Two Peas in a Bucket. Some of the challenge hosts and hostesses are offering a small RAK prize from their own pockets, and others are just for fun. SOF11 runs from October 1st through 16th. Made this card with an Altenew stampset. Love all the flowers in the set. They are easy to cut out. (I don't have the dies) Used this set a lot! Love it! This time I used Copic Markers.
