Other than wrought iron fences, one just doesn’t see too many fences painted black. This must be a real trip in the dark. “Ouch! Did I just run into something? What is that fence doing there in the middle of the field?“ HFF

Already? In a sad and scary world, we need little things to make us smile. Not sure if this link will work after today ( a little video I did of my squirrels getting ready for Christmas, edited and set to music by my publisher) www.ew.com/article/2015/12/02/merry-christmas-squirrels-t...

I got some news today that the Secret Life of Squirrels is in the top nine kids books picked by Barnes and Noble for the Christmas season..wow...super thankful for the great publishing team at Little, Brown Books for Young Readers <a href="http://www.barnesandnobleinc.com/press_releases/11_18_14_bn_top_books_for_the_holidays.html"

I felt like I needed to create this evening, despite feeling not at all good and very tired. So I introduce you to my little chalk friend here. Inspired by Jack Batchelor's photo of a terrified little snail in the rain, I was reminded that... I kinda like snails.

I'm trying to create some much more elaborate concepts in my head at the moment but I must keep shooting in between those.

day 3

Macro Mondays theme : Mediums

Chalk is a form of limestone. It forms deep underwater. It is white, soft, porous, and among the many possible applications, it is used for writing on a blackboard. Sidewalk art uses a different kind of chalk. It is commonly made of gypsum and is available in several colors. The chalks in my picture are Sidewalk chalks. They are ¾” wide and come in very lovely colors.

I had to make room in the kitchen for a new wooden shelf so I brought back the blackboard to the studio.

In the heart of the Flint Hills sits an abandoned school. The blackboard still waits to share a bit of wisdom I think. Have a great weekend my friends!
