I got really lucky in getting to this place near my village, Its abundance in Bird life simply amazed me. I got this shot of a Kalij Pheasant Female as it was doing its stuff along this Jungle.
Near Rudraprayag, Uttarakhand.
This was probably the best sighting i ever had of Kalij Pheasant, both male and female together till date, a group 9 of them coming together at this waterhole near my village.

The brown-breasted flycatcher or Layard's flycatcher (Muscicapa muttui) is a small passerine bird in the flycatcher family Muscicapidae. The species breeds in north eastern India, central and Southern China and northern Burma and Thailand, and migrates to southern India and Sri Lanka. It forages for insects below the forest canopy, often close to the forest floor.

The Himalayan Monal, Lophophorus impejanus also known as the Impeyan Monal or Impeyan Pheasant or Danphe is a bird of genus Lophophorus of the pheasant family, Phasianidae, found in high Himalayas. It is the national bird of Nepal, where it is known as the Danfe, and the state bird of Uttarakhand, India. It is becoming very very rare this days.
It was our last day of our trip in this part of The Himalayas. The elusive bird was still an imagination 2 us. It was 5.40 in the morning. Sunrise was due in 10-15 min. It appeared before our car. Stayed there for next 40 min or so, gave ample time to shoot. The light was too bad for a "Wow" type shot. But yet we all r highly satisfied bcos none of our group saw the great Himalayan Monal before.

It was around -1 or -2 deg C, and I was lying flat on the cold road, paying attention to what Nitin bhai was shouting out from the other corner, giving me updates on the movement of this male Himalayan Monal. In about 8-10 mins of lying motionless on the ground, I saw the head pop up from the edge of the valley, on to the road. He walked straight to the middle of the road, and paused for a moment to check on me, and went straight up the other side of the mountain. We spent 2-3 days noticing the movement of this Monal family, and hence, could finally zero in on this crossing point of this magnificent bird, which is also called as the Emperor of Chopta. via 500px ift.tt/12mR9hO

I am blessed to be born in the Himalayas. The beauty of himalayas has no parallel .Birds are no exception.
White-cheeked Nuthatch is a small nuthatch found in the mixed conifers and broad-leaved trees from central to western Himalayas. Sexes are alike, showing a black crown, greyish-blue upperparts, rust-colored flanks, white face and breast. Its continuous calls of aynn-aynn help locate it in trees.
Note the Greater wing coverts in greyish color , hence the name.Resident in Himalayas and winters in South to NE India..Bill is prominent orange and legs are yellowish.It has a rich melodious song with repeated two -note whistles call is a typical chook - chook - chook.

The Verditer Flycatcher (Eumyias thalassinus) is an Old World flycatcher found in the Indian subcontinent, especially in the Lower Himalaya. It is named after its distinctive shade of copper-sulphate blue and has a dark patch between the eyes and above the bill base. The adult males are intense blue on all areas of the body, except for the black eye-patch and grey vent. Adult females and sub-adults are lighter blue.
