Each year fruit for Bin 138 is sourced from Barossa Valley vines and then matured for 12 to 15 months in seasoned oak hogsheads to allow the different varietals to shine through. Bin 138 is defined by its distinctive plum, raspberry pastille and underlying spicy notes. The first vintage release of this varietal blend was the 1992, labelled ‘Old Vine Barossa Valley’ – it was then elevated to Bin status for the 1998 vintage.

Well, the day from hell is winding down. Not only did we both have the most godawful work day, but we are now nursing our elder cat, who has today undergone some pretty extensive dental surgery and biopsies. She's not cooperating and she is DEFINITELY not all groggy and sleepy like they said she would be for the next seven days. She wasn't sleepy for seven minutes! She's all full of piss and vinegar and doesn't want to behave. She only wants to eat. And after having large inflamed areas in the back of her throat biopsied and eight - yes, I said EIGHT - teeth removed, I don't think I would want to eat but she's pretty damn insistent. So tiny bits of food are being given to her so she doesn't upchuck from the anesthesia, etc., but this is not fun. And we have seven to ten more days of this. We already cancelled one vacation because of this cat. It's looking like there's a possibility we may need to cancel our next one, too, and this is one we DESPERATELY need!

So, instead of simply taking a picture of this lovely, fairly pricey (for a Monday night, anyway) bottle of wine, we opened it. And we're enjoying it a lot.

Between episodes of feeding the cat from a spoon and keeping the other ones away from her, that is.
