You don't know how hard it was to take this photo rather than eat it.

For me, it all started with issue # 3.

Here are 25 year old issues in very fine condition. This limited edition set was brought about by Marvel Comics in commemoration of the video game series.

Writer:Dwayne McDuffie (Issues 1-4)

Writers: Tom Breevoort and Mike Kanterovich (Issues 5 and 6) was a six-issue limited series that ran from July to December 1991.

Peter Parker: Thanks for the ride, April! That's some car!

April O'Neil: No problem Pete! We in the press need to help each other out. Glad we bumped into each other at the newspaper.

Parker: So this is Old Town?

April: Yep! Pretty nice gig you got for your first job, photographing the Planks.

It is getting late. The Bijou Planks final show of the evening is over and the lively streets of Old Town become marginally quieter as people begin heading home.

The streets of Old Town are full and, it would seem, so are the rooftops.

Indeed, some of those present this night in Old Town are quite intimidating.

The line forms and excitement builds as tickets are accepted and entry granted.

This is it! The show! The Bijou Planks!

Krillin: Hey! Can't you freaks sit in the back?? I can't see the show for those pylons you got sittin on your necks!

Connie: Did you seriously just insult our heads? Look at yours! What is that, inflatable?

Krillin: You want to take it outside!? Right now!?

Connie: You want to fight me!? Nut!!

Prymaat: Cease antagonizing the indigents, Connie.

One of my favorite 8-bit games of all time, and (for my money) the best game in the entire Double Dragon franchise, Double Dragon II: The Revenge received an exceptional cover when it was ported to home consoles in 1989. (To give credit where it's due, the cover was adapted from the arcade cabinet side-art and promotional flyer.) This is a composite scan of the Nintendo Famicom box. It's smaller in dimensions, but otherwise very similar to the NES release seen in North America. Jimmy (presumably, the guy wearing red) is holding a battle-weary Marion safe while Billy (the brother in blue, I assume) battles off hordes of the Black Shadow Warriors. If there was image that says "this is cool video game," it has to be this!

Names available at library

Moon Stryker: I've seen intergalactic watering holes before, but Paprihaven takes the cake!

Commander Stargazer: Everywhere you look, a potential friend or a potential threat. So look sharp.

Quicksilver: Yep... that big fellow over there doesn't look much like 'friend' potential.

one of my favorite games. the gba remake is great. it kind of incorporates all the games into one remake of the first game. so you have moves from dd2 like the whindmill/huricane/tornado/spiny kick and you can jump on dudes when they're down. AND you can get on top of them and beat them in the face. it's great. there are some extra stages and enemies, too.

i didn't watch all of this. dunno if you'll get to see a lot of the moves available. the player at LEAST jumped on someone.
