It almost takes your breath away when you face him in the wild at such a short distance! We all stand spellbound in the safari jeep, nobody says a word, everyone is just impressed by the situation! Etosha, Namibia

Etosha, Namibia

The leopardess emerged from the tall grass just as we drove past. It is extremely difficult to find these elusive cats in the wild, especially when you are in a large concession where wild animals roam freely.

August, 2014

When I spotted a pride of lions in the grasslands of Masaimara, decided to wait for a while for the right moment instead of making some boring close up portraits. As anticipated, one of the lions decided to walk up the small hill and pose for me with golden light falling on his face and the blue sky in the back drop!

Malaya the Snow Leopard strikes an iconic pose that echos an illuminated chapter heading inscribed by monks during the dark ages - from before Gutenberg invented moveable type....!

Friday night during the golden hour of sunset and the first hours of the Brookfield Zoo Holiday Lights festival, Malaya and her mate Sabu were more active than I've seen them! Here Malaya frolics with some extra something in a green bag that her caretakers gave her - is there such a thing as Leopard-Nip? Because she was pretty cranked up!

This male Leopard got a little frisky as a female was approaching. Maasai Mara Kenya, July 2019

Three of four already strong young teenagers from the large Rongai pride, photographed before sunrise in the twilight.

For some time now, they had been keeping separate from the main pride and were on the way of leaving it permanently, either to take over a different pride or even to rebel against the established, long-standing alpha lions of this clan.

Amu Leopard Cub is VERY TOUGH GUY!!!111 RAWR!

Amur Leopards are critically endangered with less than 200 in the world remaining, so it is a joy when two cubs were born at Brookfield Zoo on April 18, 2018.

Today Jilin and Samson came down and were very active - the two cubs playing rambunctiously with each other. Wrestling, tackling, hunting - very fun and cute.

World Lion Day is a day to pay tribute to these magnificent cats and to bring awareness to the significant decline of lions in Africa and Asia. Can you imagine an Africa with no lions?

Samburu - Kenia

Leopard sightings are usually very rare - After all, these beautiful cats are among the most difficult of the BigFive to find!

Suddenly and totally unexpected for me, this beautiful cat came out of the tall grass and showed herself.

10 seconds she gave us - then she disappeared again deep in the bushes and in her territory!
