We had an amazing game drive around Hluhluwe Umfolozi Game Reserve one day and the privilege of some very close up encounters with these guys. This rhino was very inquisitive and came right up past our land rover and faced off the other two behind us... We sat watching for ages to see which one he'd charge at.... LOL but in the end he just walked off.
I'm so glad it's Friday and almost the weekend. Hope you've all had a good week :)
Thanks again for taking the time to go through my photographs and for the great comments. To those of you who've sent me private messages, I promise I will get replies out soon..... it's been mad since I've been home, and I just got a brochure in the mail yesterday for Canada tours... hmmmmm time to plan my next holiday methinks!!!! LOL

Just as we were finishing up our safari for the day, we spotted this gorgeous leopard waking up from a nap in this tree. Great way to end an awesome day in Serengeti National Park!

This is the large male leopard known as Tortoise Pan.
He was born into the Londolozi Royal Family of leopards in 2016.
We were privileged to see him in the Sabi Sand Game Reserve.
While he is relatively young at six years of age, he is quite large and he has clearly seen some battles in his time.

A rare and dynamic moment captured in the African wilderness—two black rhinos on the move. These powerful creatures, symbols of resilience and conservation efforts, roam the dry savanna, showcasing their raw energy and survival instincts.
Ever since I visited Cameroon and South Africa more than 15 and 11 years ago, I had longed to go back to that amazing continent.
And visiting Kenya this summer was just wonderful! So wonderful that I will go back in less than 10 months ッ

Not really.
This was a very strange experience we made. The lioness caught the fawn and carried it through the bushes, like she usually carries her cubs. I felt like she was honoring, what the fawn would give to her: food! Just like: I am sorry about you but I need food.

We woke up to shocking and heartbreaking news last week that the custodians of our wildlife, Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS), had allowed Seven of the fourteen critically endangered Black Rhinos translocated from Nairobi National Park to a newly created Rhino Sanctuary to die because of gross incompetence and negligence on their part.
The Rhinos both Black and White, have been flourishing in Nairobi National Park because of the heightened security and the population has increased steadily and it is not surprising to sight 20-30 rhinos on a single game drive through the park.
By the end of 2017, Kenya had a rhino population of 1,258 (745 Black rhinos, 510 southern white rhinos and 3 Northern white rhinos, the only surviving northern White rhino Male died in March 2018, thus only 2 females remain) having grown from less than 400 rhinos in 1980’s.
The white rhinoceros or square-lipped rhinoceros (Ceratotherium simum) with it's calf was photographed in the wild on a game drive in Kenya.

This was the 3rd and final leopard we saw on our trip. This beauty gave us unbelievable views. I think I got pretty spoiled with my sightings of one of Africa's most elusive animals.
It was so exciting to watch this cheetah awaken from her sleep on the open plains of Eastern Botswana, to then go into hunt mode. Fascinating stuff
