Target public:
Graduate students (Masters and PhD) in forest sciences, forest geomatics or data science
Practitioners and IT staff from forest companies, administrations and R&D institutes
Target outcomes:
By the end of the course the participants will have a comprehensive overview of forest data management and analysis including relevant R skills to develop forest models at stand and tree levels and a foundation on cloud simulation of forest systems.
Rationale:
Forest management is facing different challenges due to the magnitude of the current environmental problems (climate change, invasive species, biodiversity crisis, etc.) and the growing demand for goods and services by the society.
Furthermore, the current Knowledge Society paradigm requires professionals to integrate different skills into their specific domain effectively; for example, the management of big databases, including analysis, modeling and decision making.
Although there are some local initiatives such as the DataForest MSc programme at University of Valladolid this specific type of education and training in data management and analysis is not available to forest managers and forest scientists. In general personnel involved in forest management and its environs have a good working knowledge of forest management systems and methods.
However this knowledge could be further enhanced by skills in other complimentary fields, such as database management, computer programming, data analysis, decision making through operational research techniques, geographic information systems and remote sensing.

Les "Rêve Party" s’inscrivent dans une démarche d’ouverture de l’Atelier aux entreprises et à leur intégration dans les activités de l’Atelier.
Les "Rêve Party" sont des soirées trimestrielles pilotées par l’Atelier Arts Sciences et soutenues à chaque édition par un acteur clé du territoire grenoblois (Pôle de Compétitivité, Réseaux entreprises, Clusters…).
Elles rassemblent entreprises, acteurs économiques, artistes et scientifiques autour d’une thématique définie : ligne directrice de la soirée, invitation au « rêve » et à la construction de nouveaux projets…

Tout grand projet naît d’un rêve, venez les partager !
Le 20 juin prochain, pour leur quatrième édition, les Rêve Party de l’Atelier Arts Sciences font escale à Lyon et rassembleront artistes, scientifiques et entreprises autour de la question des données qui agitent les esprits, transforment nos modes de vie et ouvrent des perspectives considérables mais qui poussent à la vigilance.
L’Atelier Arts Sciences vous donne rendez-vous au TUBÀ, le lieu d’innovation et d’expérimentation dédié aux smart-cities et présentera en avant-première une étape de travail de l’artiste Lionel Palun qui, dans le cadre du projet européen Festival, conçoit une œuvre, fresque numérique interactive et monumentale, dessinée avec les pinceaux d’aujourd’hui : la vidéo, les réseaux, le calcul en temps réel, l’internet, les flux de données. Cette fresque faite de deux écrans, géographiquement éloignés, rend sensible les données captées en temps réel... En 2017, l’artiste projette d’installer son dispositif entre des gares de France et du Japon.
D’autres projets arts sciences ainsi que des projets de start-ups du territoire seront dévoilés et nous croiserons les points de vue pour mettre en lumière les enjeux soulevés pour la société et le citoyen.

A presentation at the Labs of Latvia ignition event on March 3rd, 2015 engages the audience.
ZoomCharts was delighted to be a part of the ignition event that took place at Birojnīca, Mill Street 84/2, Rīga, LV 1050, Latvia, on March 3rd, 2015 to celebrate the launch of Labs of Latvia.
Labs of Latvia is a brand new Rīga based community platform for Latvian startups by Latvian startups. It provides information about the Latvian startup scene for startups, investors, media, and the Latvian startup community at large.
