Backflipping the wave at Taos Ski Valley, right in front of Wheeler Peak, the highest point in New Mexico.
My first ski shot since breaking my ankle.
There isn't much snow this season, but sliding around on snow is a ton of fun!
It felt good to get back out on skis and shoot even some stuff like this on a groomer!
Today is the day! Riders are on course. The best mountain bike freeriders in the world are in Virgin, Utah at the 2021 Red Bull Rampage to find out who's the very best.
Spent some of Saturday arvo watching crazy cats get up 8m or so in the big air kite surfing competition at Waterbourne.

I don't know when this jump was built or when I first learned about it. But I've been wanting to shoot it for over ten years so it feels good to finally get it done. Thanks a lot to the rider, Tylar Furr, for stepping up and sending it for my camera.

Red squirrel (Sciurus vulgaris) dashing through the big open. One thing is for sure: they are extremely fast!!! 1/1250th of a second could hardly freeze the action.
Shredder of the boards ripping sick air. This is a still from The Joy of Flight video posted in my Photostream. It is from a big air exhibition a few years ago. I had hundreds of shots of this event, literally standing on the down side of the launch ramp. It was epic.
Update: Posted the 4K version on YT. Bumped up the shadows a bit in the rendering. www.youtube.com/watch?v=OpshemqGswM

Sami, Luther and I went out to Stanage Edge this evening to do some bouldering and to see the sunset..
Both were superb!
Sami and Luther were doing some great bouldering moves with some highballs too..
I did a few climbs but took pictures!! And jumped up and down on the Trig Point!

I am gently doing the 'Trig Point Challenge' - In total, there are 88 trig points in the Peak District, that stand within or on the National Park boundary.
So I'm keeping a tally of those I've done!
Edit of a pic I took in 2013 at the Big Air BMX finale in Munich. Please note that I only changed the part on the left below the rider, because of some unattractive background. The jump is absolutely real.
Late afternoon after the last heat of the day, Nat Young found this ramp, and launched into the air to take his board for a spin.
A Crankworx moment at the adrenaline-charged Red Bull Joyride challenge, the crowing event in elite slopestyle mountain biking.
The Joyride challenge is touted as the biggest and most storied slopestyle competition on the World Tour circuit as riders throw down big-air tricks and dope drops into a rad maze of gnarly berms and dirt rollers in the Boneyard at Whistler Mountain Bike Park, Coast Mountains, British Columbia.

Catching some air at the Steamboat Resort terrain park. It was an absolutely beautiful day and I had a blast capturing some great skiers and riders.
Third image of this series. Colton Satterfield's "Backflip Tailwhip return" at Big Air Munich 2013. (I had it wrong first, now I'm sure after watching this at 22:45 again).
While doing a backflip he whips his bike around and then kicks it to go back the other way. Incredible trick.
A second one from this series that is worth being revisited for a do-over. Chad Kagy @ Big Air Munich doing his backflip no hand fork stand.
Today, I left to make locations to the Col of Aravis. While going up, I saw kids preparing their springboard. While returning, I stopped and I took this sequence.
Gabriel Medina threw probably the biggest air I've seen at an evening session at La Graviere in Hossegor. He also had a GoPro video recorder in his mouth during this stunt :)
I'm currently in the air myself. In a Lufthanse aircraft above Canada. Soon to land in San Francisco, and from there move on to Hawaii :)
