An early pre-radar Messerschmitt Bf 110C night fighter of Stab II / NJG 1 with Pilot Walter Ehle (left – 36 victories, 33 at night – on the night of May 25th-26th, 1943 he downed 5 RAF Bomber Command aircraft – killed in a night landing accident on November 18th, 1943) and his radio operator Hans Weng at St. Trond in Belgium circa late 1940/early 1941.
The Focke-Wulf Fw 190, nicknamed Würger (Butcher Bird) is a German single-seat, single-engine fighter aircraft designed by Kurt Tank at Focke-Wulf in the late 1930s and widely used during World War II.
Along with its well-known counterpart, the Messerschmitt Bf 109, the Fw 190 became the backbone of the Jagdwaffe of the Luftwaffe.
