Day 2 was hot. Very hot. The sort of hot you do not go out in. Of course it didn’t start out that way, first thing in the morning: then it’s really quite nice. A good holiday sort of temperature. A nice 20 minute walk and then a dip in the pool sort of heat. Except day 2 is 7 hour toil across scalding salt flats, with a lovely hour-long 25 degree hill to climb (ropes needed in places) at the hottest time of the day.
Contemporary Terracotta Warriors by Yue Minjun - part of Sotheby's Beyond Limits sculpture exhibition at Chatsworth House.
Until the 4th November 2007 Chatsworth is displaying 23 diverse sculptures scattered throughout the gardens. This is Sotheby's selling exhibition
Walking woman, by Lynn Chadwick. Rather like it myself. The chain to stop you getting too close, which I've Photoshopped out, makes a nonsense of the statue unfortunately. Being able to do things like that on a digital camera is a Good Thing. Early on in the manual Adobe tells you very specifically not to use Photoshop as a verb; that's like McDonalds suing Websters for noting that McJob is now a noun in common parlance, futile, a waste of time, slightly Orwellian and very stupid.
