This work is based upon my original painting "Promote Global Peace" for which my talented daughter, Karen, wrote a poem, which I am sharing again:
Shrinking World
(Written as a collaboration with my painting “Promote Global Peace”)
Our world,
so vast and so open.
Continents separated by immeasurable amounts of water.
Landscapes reaching beyond the eye’s capacity.
Hundreds of languages,
thousands of dialects.
People a world apart,
brought together through Technology.
Days become hours,
hours, seconds.
The language barrier is broken.
Our world slowly shrinks.
Ideas exchanged,
cultures fused,
minds opened,
stereotypes shattered.
Beautiful Technology
bringing us closer to people a world away.
Working together
we get the best of both worlds.
The best of ALL worlds.
Technology…
why not use it to bring peace to this shrinking world?

I feel it even more important today to share this message. The world seems to be straying away from love, peace, respect and understanding and getting closer and closer to a world war!
It is beyond time for us to come together globally, recognize our differences and find mutual solutions for all of our children's sake. War definitely is no solution it only causes more pain through violence and hate and at the rate we are going we may bring an end to the world as we know it. Everyone beware and be wise, please!

Where the way is leading you to?
If you are not listening to the pleas of Hong Kong people and students in their peaceful protest, you choose to respond with violent suppression instead of reform and changes in the system. You are telling all the people in Taiwan and China that peaceful protest is not going to work and this is a dangerous message to all.
Now you have to take courage and make a wise decision. Or this is leading you to a dead end.
This is the 18th day of Occupy Central in Hong Kong. The police used violent force again against the peaceful protesters. The Hong Kong government refused to talk to the students and showed no motives in making any reform on the chief executive election system.

The Woolworth store in Stourbridge's Ryemarket centre in 1979. Reflected in the window are the shopfronts of BeWise (a budget clothing company) and Stead & Simpson (shoe shop). All three stores have disappeared from the Ryemarket.

Struggling fashion chain Store Twenty One is being liquidated with the loss of 900 retail jobs.
The value clothing retailer, which was based in Solihull in the West Midlands, has entered compulsory liquidation and its 122 stores which ceased trading on Friday will not reopen. The company had been in a precarious financial situation since April when HM Revenue & Customs issued a winding-up notice over unpaid tax.
Store Twenty One, which was owned by Indian textiles company Alok Group, had a chequered financial history and had struggled to adapt as low-cost fashion rivals such as Primark expanded across the UK. In recent years its turnover had declined from £95m to £57m, a performance that was accompanied by sustained losses.
Store Twenty One started in the 1930s as a manufacturing business supplying retailers including Marks & Spencer. It subsequently opened its own branches, selling seconds, but in the 1980s changed tack, rebranding the chain as QS.
In 1990 QS floated on the London Stock Exchange and went on to acquire sister chain Bewise. It was taken private in 2002 and sold again, to Alok, five years later. It rebranded again as Store Twenty One nearly a decade ago after a restructuring that involved the closure of 140 shops.

HOW MANY PEOPLE REMEMBER THE TERM "SCOOP" AS IT APPLIES TO JOURNALISM? I JUST TALKED WITH SEVERAL JOURNALISTS WHO GRADUATED FROM ONE OF THE NATION'S FOREMOST SCHOOL OF JOURNALISM. "Those two young people are doing what the veteran news corps personnel should be doing," they agreed. "Yes, journalism in today's language means something much more subterrean than it did in the 60s,"one of the educators stated. "But times change," the other responded. "Yes, times do change," he stated in his response, "but honesty and truth and values should not change." The conversation ended in a conversation at a local pub where a number of youth in their twenties were celebrating the beginning of the weekend. The consensus was that the two young people were, indeed, truly journalists who were wise in their pursuit of the truth. Unless this country has gone down the drain, the President should congratulate these youth on their efforts. We will wait and see their fate. We will wait for comments of any kind. Comments have already been made that liken their work as a "smear campaign." Since when did revealing a mess like the one encountered in the Acorn offices become a "smear" campaign. Since when did revealing the nature of a group or organization who might have access to 8.5 milllion tax payer dollars become a "smear campaign?" Folks, watch carefully those who comment on this; watch the networks and take names and notes. If these young people are threatened with any type of criminal intent, arrest or whatsoever, there will need to be a full blown Congessional Investigation far beyond the Acorn organization.
