With the disappointing news recently that Rousselot will be closing their Peabody plant by the end of 2023 I decided I better make the effort to photograph CSXT's ex Pan Am local BO-1 (technically I guess L055 now) making the trip up the Eastern Route to Salem and the freight only Danvers and South Reading Industrial Tracks to access the plant.
The closure of this plant will bring to the end all freight operations north of Everett Junction on the Eastern Route unless any new customers materialize along the commuter zone. With rail operations to end around June, well before the plant finally shuts down, now is the time to get out.
Having made the 17 mile run up from BET in Somerville and run around at North Street Yard they are now tiptoeing west (timetable east) out the branch 2 1/4 miles to the plant at the 5 MPH maximum speed. Holding down the job is CSXT's ex Pan Am GMDD GP40-2W MEC 507 (blt. Jul 1974 as CN 9472) which was given this mysterious retro fresh Guilford gray paint job at Waterville in August 2020 and has been frequently assigned to BO-1 since then. They are crossing the North River for the first of three times on a short wooden trestle approaching the Flint Street crossing.

I am so amused.
I bet during its construction for the Milwaukee Road, this GP38 (paired with an ex D&H GP38) never thought it'd find itself it on the sleepy Dunnville Spur, in rural southern Ontario.
This is a bit of a special one for me. Earlier in the day I heard how a tree had fallen on the CP Dunnville Spur causing the previous day's yard job to outlaw somewhere on the line. Upon learning this, I set off for my home where I picked up my newly acquired 50mm F/1.8 lens (as I thought I'd need it which, evidently, I did), and I set off for the Dunnville to find the outlawed train.
I eventually found them tied down and lifeless just outside of Dunnville. I waited around and eventually, a crew arrived and picked up where the previous job had left off, allowing me to chase them to the Port Maitland yard angle shown here.
With the head start from being outlawed, the train actually made it here in Daylight(ish). And fortunately, I had the 50mm F/1.8 to give me a fighting chance at a low light shot.

The Ferrocarril de Sóller better known as "El Tren de Sóller" maintains train services between Palma de Mallorca and Sóller in the north of the island. The railway was opened in 1912 and is a narrow gauge railway with a width of 914mm. The service scheme is run with old electric locomotives.
The first train of the day from Sóller arrives in Palma de Mallorca. The train consists of Motorwagen AAB 1, a baggage car and 5 passenger cars.

In the blue hour as dawn approaches a bit before 5 AM all is quiet at the west end of the diesel shop at the MBTA's Commuter Rail Maintenance facility more commonly known by its historic moniker, BET, short for Boston Engine Terminal. This modern shop opened in 1989 replacing the roundhouse dating from predecessor Boston and Maine Railroads massive 1926-1932 reconfiguration of the terminal complex that included both the new Boston Engine Terminal and Boston Garden / North Station.
Three different models of locomotive can be seen including recently rebuilt GP40MC 1117 outside on Diesel 3 and F40PH-3C 1058 inside on Diesel 2 and HSP46 2028 on Diesel 1.
Modern BET opened in 1989 replacing the roundhouse dating from B&M's massive 1926-1932 reconfiguration of the terminal complex that included both the new Boston Engine Terminal and Boston Garden / North Station.
