Happy nifty fifty Friday!

(90/365) My Photo of the Day for Friday, September 9th!

To take little nuggets on how to talk to kids, how to give and get respect and how to help sculpt great kids...I have been fortunate to have a couple brothers (older of course) that were great dads and I stole a lot from them. Thanks Gary and Bill... and my Dad was a great dad...I still steal nuggets from him raising me...But old Samuel Clemens touched me with this note to his kids...he appears to have had it goin on... I was origianlly just fascinated with the copyright date, then his words sunk into my heart...

Wishing you all a very joyous Thanksgiving with family, friends and loved ones.

I have so much to be thankful for in my life, and I know each one of you do, as well.

Thankfulness is a far better lamp than bitterness. A thankful life gives light to the eyes; whether the surroundings are dim or vibrant.

What mundane or glorious things do you have to be thankful for today?

"Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change."

-James 1:17

Oh and Happy Thanksgiving! Now go fill those tummies with delicious yummy-ness! Also, I think this is the first time I've posted a smiling self-portrait!

The three monks chose an area 3 kilometers north of the village of Sia and just outside the Roman settlement of Pamboulia to build their monasteries.

[I'm Thankful For... for ODC2]

I was in Balboa Park a while a ago and heard this mariachi player playing traditional Mexican songs... he sounded great. You could tell he was happy to be outside playing his guitar for everyone. His music added a friendly sound to air and I noticed that everytime someone dropped money in his guitar case, he managed to work in the vocals "Thank youuuuu verrrry much". - After I dropped some money into his case, he was more than pleased to pose for this picture"

I say, "Thank YOU very much" for this very fine portrait amigo!

Halfway along the road leading from the village of Sia to Mathiatis, on the left, there is an earthen road which leads to a small hill where the ruins of an ancient byzantine chapel dedicated to Agios Eftychios stand.

Its architecture and thick ancient walls reveal that during its glory days the church was an imposing building. It also resembles the ruined church of Saint Ilarionas Neos at the fortress of Agios Ilarionas in Pentadaktylos. Its architecture and mainly the mixture of the materials used by the builders of these two churches are almost identical, except for the fact that the church of Saint Eftychios is smaller.

Saint Eftychios, as this is mentioned by chronicler Archimandrite Kyprianos in the “Chronological History of the Island of Cyprus” (1788), was one of the “foreign Saints who settled on the Island” (one of the 300 Alamans who found refuge in Cyprus after being persecuted by the Palestinians in the 11th century A.D.) and chose to perform his ascetic duties on the borders of Lythrodontas, along with his fellow anchorites Josef, Thelthan, Frasin and John.

Saint Eftychios performed his ascetic duties in Mathiatis and along with other monks they built a small monastery dedicated to Agios Eftychios.

When the Turks occupied Cyprus in 1571 A.D., they killed the monks, ruined their cells and left the chapel of Agios Eftychios deserted.

Therefore, as you received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in him, rooted and built up in him and established in the faith, just as you were taught, abounding in thanksgiving.

When i do not take a moment to breathe..............and simplify..........THIS is what i feel like inside.

When i can't describe my inner feelings, a walk in nature almost always can relate.

Breathe............simplify..............

take a moment to enjoy what is all around you this week, and be thankful for all things good.

Psalm 100:4 & 5: ‘Enter His gates with thanksgiving and into His courts with praise!

Give thanks and bless His name for the Lord is good; His mercy is everlasting;

His faithfulness and truth endure to all generations’.

What a wonderful time of the year.... and saying thanks is a daily thing but it is so important

to come together as a nation and celebrate a day of Thanksgiving!!!! So I am thankful for the Thanksgiving holiday and so many other things... as we gather with our family on Thursday

I am thankful we can hold hands, bow our heads, and pray together in freedom, a prayer

of Thanksgiving for all our many blessings... May each of you have a very blessed and

HAPPY THANKSGIVING wherever you may be... because giving thanks wherever

you are in the world for the blessings of life is truly for everyone!!!!

"If the weight of your challenges makes it difficult to give thanks, reflect back how the

pilgrims must have felt. “The Pilgrims of the First Thanksgiving made seven times

more graves than huts. No Americans have been more impoverished than those who,

nevertheless, set aside a day of thanksgiving.” H. U. Westermayer.
