Molecule Man - Jonathan Borofsky

This was shot in Berlin with a Sony RX100M2 and a gray filter using a tripod exposing for 30 seconds. I used the free App “snapseed” to do some editing like black and white and some vignetting.

Molecule Man is a series of aluminium sculptures, designed by American artist Jonathan Borofsky, installed at various locations in the world, including Berlin, Germany, and Council Bluffs, Iowa, USA.

The first Molecule Man sculptures were made in 1977 and 1978 in Los Angeles, USA. The sculptures consist of three humans leaning towards each other, the bodies of which are filled with hundreds of holes, the holes representative of "the molecules of all human beings coming together to create our existence".

This sunset was just magical! I was so lucky to be there, right spot, right time.....

Brandenburg Gate in Berlin, Germany. By the way, the gate is 26 m high.....

The Brandenburg Gate (German: Brandenburger Tor) is an 18th-century neoclassical triumphal arch in Berlin, and one of the best-known landmarks of Germany. It is built on the site of a former city gate that marked the start of the road from Berlin to the town of Brandenburg an der Havel.

It is located in the western part of the city centre of Berlin, at the junction of Unter den Linden and Ebertstraße, immediately west of the Pariser Platz. One block to the north stands the Reichstag building. The gate is the monumental entry to Unter den Linden, the renowned boulevard of linden trees, which formerly led directly to the city palace of the Prussian monarchs.

It was commissioned by King Frederick William II of Prussia as a sign of peace and built by Carl Gotthard Langhans from 1788 to 1791. Having suffered considerable damage in World War II, the Brandenburg Gate was fully restored from 2000 to 2002 by the Stiftung Denkmalschutz Berlin (Berlin Monument Conservation Foundation).

During the post-war Partition of Germany, the gate was isolated and inaccessible immediately next to the Berlin Wall, and the area around the gate was featured most prominently in the media coverage of the opening of the wall in 1989.

Throughout its existence, the Brandenburg Gate was often a site for major historical events and is today considered a symbol of the tumultuous history of Europe and Germany, but also of European unity and peace.

This is a single shot at ISO 100 , 1/60 - Sony Alpha 6000 and a Samyang 12 mm wide lens) edited in Snapseed (free) on a tablet.

I do get a lot of questions regarding my processing with snapseed. I typically go to “tune image”, adjust the “ambiance” and then play around with the “brush” feature eg. “dodge and burn”. After these adjustments I typically add some tonal contrast.

I must say I love snapseed´s ability to smartly select areas for selective retouching; its Ambience tool provides a wonderful combination of brightness, shadow opening, warmth, and even incredible highlight protection all at once.

Thank you very much for taking the time to look. Hope you enjoy and potentially learn something! Big thanks to the amazing Flickr family out there!

The world of Air Berlin.

Dusseldorf crammed full of Air Berlin traffic, how times changed rapidly when the airline collapsed on October 27, 2017.

Some ink, a lot of t-shirts and the lid of a sewer... That's all this guy needs for hiw handmade shirts.

On the way back from the sport, I saw a painter standing on the citizenry and painting the cityscape. I had to get my camera and capture this beautiful moment.

I do not know if I should write English or German. Today I write in German. If someone wants to read this text in English then tell me this in the comments.

The Reichstag building (German: Reichstagsgebäude; officially: Plenarbereich Reichstagsgebäude) is a historical edifice in Berlin, Germany, constructed to house the Imperial Diet (German: Reichstag), of the German Empire. It was opened in 1894 and housed the Diet until 1933, when it was severely damaged in a fire. After World War II, the building fell into disuse; the parliament of the German Democratic Republic (the Volkskammer) met in the Palast der Republik in East Berlin, while the parliament of the Federal Republic of Germany (the Bundestag) met in the Bundeshaus in Bonn.

The ruined building was made safe against the elements and partially refurbished in the 1960s, but no attempt at full restoration was made until after German reunification on 3 October 1990, when it underwent a reconstruction led by architect Norman Foster. After its completion in 1999, it once again became the meeting place of the German parliament: the modern Bundestag.

The term Reichstag, when used to connote a diet, dates back to the Holy Roman Empire. The building was built for the Diet (German: Reichstag) of the German Empire, which was succeeded by the Reichstag of the Weimar Republic. The latter would become the Reichstag of Nazi Germany, which left the building (and ceased to act as a parliament) after the 1933 fire and never returned; the term Reichstag has not been used by German parliaments since World War II. In today's usage, the German word Reichstag (Imperial Diet Building) refers mainly to the building, while Bundestag (Federal Diet) refers to the institution.

Christmas market 2013: Gendarmenmarket, Berlin, Germany

It's the most wonderful time of the year..... and it can be celebrated with food, sweets and drinks, spiced wine (Gluehwein) and other things in Berlin. An opportunity to have a shopping experience with holiday gifts, ornaments, jewelry and high-quality arts and crafts.

German newspaper "The Welt" states: The German capital has a main christmas market - Germany´s most beautiful christmas market....(„Die Hauptstadt hat einen Hauptstadtweihnachtsmarkt – Deutschlands schönster Weihnachtsmarkt auf dem Gendarmenmarkt“ (Die Welt, 28.11.2012))

One evening I was taking photos with a friend in Berlin. We were in a pedestrian zone near the Kudamm. This woman sat all the time in the sun. When the sun was almost gone, she stood up to get the last rays of the sun.

Im Berliner Parks sind Kaninchen öffters anzutreffen. Besonders Abends. Mit etwas Gedult kommt man gut an sie ran.
