I shot this photo on my second or third day on campus as a freshman at Berkeley, and it has remained one of my all-time favorite photos of my undergraduate university. I was discussing a print of this for a client, and that inspired me to re-edit it for the first time in... thirteen years. Yikes. I posted this previously to Flickr, but I like the image and fresh edit enough to repost it.
It's only eight megapixels, but it was tripoded, stopped-down, and I nailed focus, so the level of detail is respectable. I wanted to reshoot this in my later years at Berkeley, but this alignment of the moon at sunset next to the Golden Gate only happens once or twice per year, and it was cloudy at the right window each year.

This guy is a cast of a real skeleton; he stands in front of the (mostly hidden) paleontology museum at UC Berkeley. The museum is open to visitors one day a year; staff works there daily. Mostly the museum is used for teaching and research.

The Berkeley Oceanfront Hotel has remained a landmark presence within the Asbury Park seaside community for over 100 years. Designed by Beaux-Arts architect Whitney Warren of New York, the storied hotel now provides modern luxury and classic grandeur with a nod to our original Victorian architecture.
This Black phoebe has decided that our backyard is "The Place to Be." I hope it hangs around a while.

I've been on Flickr vacation for a while as I've just had too many other things going on at once. I hate to post when I don't have time to visit and comment... but couldn't resist adding this to Guess Where Berkeley. And then I realized it made a pretty decent Sunday sliiiiide, too. So guess where it's slid, and have a nice Sunday!
