Le Horseshoe Bend (« la courbe du fer à cheval ») est le nom d'un méandre du fleuve Colorado situé à 6 km au sud de la ville de Page en Arizona et correspondant à un ancien plateau érodé.
Le méandre se trouve un peu en aval du barrage de Glen Canyon et du lac Powell.
Un point de vue situé sur l'U.S. Route 89 (en) permet d'avoir une bonne vue d'ensemble du méandre.

Horseshoe Bend is the intimate Grand Canyon experience. It overlooks one of the most spectacular views on the Colorado River. The overlook is 4,200 feet (1,300 m) above sea level, and the Colorado River is at 3,200 feet (980 m) above sea level, making it a 1,000-foot (300 m) drop. Went there four times at sunrise, sunset, cloudy day and sunshine day, the picture was taken in a cloudy day. The light was soft, not so strong, loving the soft sun’s ray illuminating canyon’s twisting sandstone cliffs. I posted photos before, this photo was not including the sky, just the soft light on the cliff rocks and river…
Explore a meandering, horseshoe-shaped section of the Colorado River known as Horseshoe Bend, must join tour to visit those areas. “Horseshoe bend and slot canyon tour” at sunset time, this section of horseshoe bend is the private area, getting there were like on the kind of “horse” wagon, up and down on the road, sunshine, raining, hail, sunshine... what a weather! Arrived another side of horseshoe bend, like that quiet feeling facing to spectacular desert landscape shaped by wind and water.

I considered posting one more snow image, but instead decided to go into my archives and post something very different for me. I took this while on a road trip around Vancouver Island last September. I can pretty much bet you didn't know this was mine when you first saw it :)

At the bend of a street in Paris, it is not uncommon to see a monument, here meet the Eiffel Tower!
The Eiffel Tower is a 330 m high wrought iron tower (with antennas) located in Paris, at the northwestern end of the Champ-de-Mars park on the banks of the Seine in the 7th arrondissement. Its official address is 5, avenue Anatole-France.
Built in two years by Gustave Eiffel and his collaborators for the Paris Universal Exhibition of 1889, celebrating the centenary of the French Revolution, and initially named "300 meter tower", it has become the symbol of the French capital and a site leading tourist attraction: it was the fourth most visited paid cultural site in France in 2016, with 5.9 million visitors. Since its opening to the public, it has welcomed more than 300 million visitors.

The River Wharfe flowing quietly down Wharfedale between Starbotton and Kettlewell
The section from the river's source to around Addingham which includes this location is known as Upper Wharfedale and lies in North Yorkshire and in the Yorkshire Dales National Park. The first 15 miles or so is known as Langstrothdale, including the settlements of Beckermonds, Yockenthwaite and Hubberholme, famous for its church, the resting place of the writer J. B. Priestley. As it turns southwards, the Wharfe then runs through a green and lush valley, characterised by limestone outcrops, such as Kilnsey Crag, and woodland, generally quite unusual in the Dales.
This track between Kettlewell and Buckden is part of the Dales Way Long Distance Footpath from Ilkley to Bowness on Windermere.

The Toledo bend is a large man-made body of water between Louisiana and Texas. The length of the lake is approximately 85 miles long. The lake has two purposes. Its an electric power plant and is capable to provide water to the city of Houston.
The lake is also a very popular with Bass sport fisherman.

Oxbow Bend, Grand Teton National Park. Beautiful Sunrise views means a good place to meet other photographers. A busy spot in early morning and worth it!
Vrbas river, Bosnia, autumn view of the river bend, the horizon seems uneven, but that's an illusion, it looks like this in just about every photo I've seen online. I was worried that this spot would be covered in fog, because I was driving through thick fog until 5 minutes before I arrived at the viewpoint. This seems to be a morning spot, it was too shadowy when I passed by the previous afternoon. Many more river bend photos to come this time, from other rivers and countries. Happy belated Thanksgiving to USAians.
The Colorado River started to cut through endless layers of rock, and when it ran into Horseshoe Bend, it creates this natural, sculptural landscape. The river eventually went around it, and now there is a 270-degree bend in the river which created the now-famous horseshoe shape. The sheer Cliff walls are made of Navajo Sandstone, a particularly dense type of sandstone. In the process of erosion, the sandstone acted as a natural barrier, forcing the water to make a sharp bend in the river thorough softer rocks.
