It's hard to believe that these photos were taken of the same rose with just 1 minute of difference.
At first sight I would think that they were taken with one or two days of interval. It's all a question of perspective.

Entrance to the Cittadella in Victoria, Gozo. Also known as Il-Kastell, the Castle, in Gozo, this is the old fortified capital of Gozo. The hill has been inhabited since the Bronze Age, and it is believed to have been the acropolis of the Punic-Roman city of Gaulos or Glauconis Civitas. The site was converted into a castle during the middle ages. It's defences however were obsolete by the 16th century, and in 1551 an Turkish Ottoman force invaded Gozo and sacked the Cittadella taking the majority of the Gozitan population prisoners. A major reconstruction of the southern walls of the Cittadella was undertaken between 1599 and 1622, transforming it into a gunpowder fortress. The new fortifications were criticized in later decades, and plans to demolish the entire citadel were made multiple times in the 17th and 18th centuries, but were never carried out. The castle saw action during the French invasion and subsequent uprising in 1798; in both cases the fortress surrendered without much of a fight. I believe these to be dried hydrangea though I am not entirely sure. I came across the dried blooms atop brown stems sticking out of the snow in a local park.

Fungi of beechwood: The Deer Shield (Pluteus cervinus), I believe, was growing on a decayed beech log entirely covered with moss. The colour of the cap of this common mushroom is typically much lighter resembling the colour of the young deer (hence epithet ‘cervinus’ from the Latin word ‘cervus’ – ‘a deer’; though some say that you need to look at the gills under microscope to see stag-like edges). The cap of this young and probably recently emerged specimen is dark brown, almost black enhanced by wet weather. The obsession of building bigger and bigger moai statues was one of the main causes of deforestation and food scarcity. These problems led to a fall in the belief of the moai’s power and their construction was not only abandoned, but some were even torn down from their ahus.
