Hard to believe, but: yes! Those pretty multicolored, variegated Tulips are degenerating species of that flower. The first to note this (in 1576) is the eminent botanist Carolus Clusius (1516-1609). However, he didn't know the cause of that phenomenon. Today much study has been made of the so-called 'Tulip-breaking Virus' (TBV), that, once a bulb has been infected with it, gives rise to those strikingly colored flowers. One of those Viruses is named after Rembrandt, the ReTBV. The photo is of an affected flower in the Hortus Botanicus here in Amsterdam.

Believe it or not I do have a rust pot of rusted items especially for challenges like this! I used the oxidised under side of the glass jar in the background to create the orange hue.

Panoramic view over Patzcuaro lake, Michoacan state, Mexico before sunset. The elevation of the lake is about 2100m. (7000ft) so the climate is quite cool despite being in the tropics, especially in the wet season. This photo was taken from a volcanic hill about 200m, higher than lake level and it got quite chilly after sundown. I spent a few days there relaxing as it was the midpoint of my last trip, there will be quite a few uploads from this spot in the coming days. Michoacan state has had a dangerous reputation recently, with alarming travel advice from governments making people believe tourists will be kidnapped and skinned alive the moment they step over to Michoacan, my experience was completely the opposite, it was one of the most tranquil places I visited. Michoacan is actually one of my favorite states in Mexico.
I believe that this is a False Potato Beetle. I was out doing macro photography yesterday and when I came home this beauty was on my front door. It was like it was waiting for me. I moved it to my garden and got some photos before it disappeared. Photographed in Maryland..
