“Look now at the behemoth, which I made along with you... He moves his tail like a cedar; The sinews of his thighs are tightly knit. His bones are like beams of bronze, His ribs like bars of iron. He is the first of the ways of God; Only He who made him can bring near His sword."
-Job 40:15, 17-19
The Behemoth, a massive creature mentioned in Job (probably an elephant or dinosaur, depending on whom you ask) and used as an illustration of "If you can't overpower this, then what makes you think you know better than God?" Of course, the rabbis soon built gigantic mythologies about Behemoth, making it into a primal beast of the earth, along with Leviathan (Crocodile or dinosaur) as a primal beast of the water, and then inventing newcomer Ziz as a bast of the air.
Silly Midrash!
This is the Final Fantasy version of the Behemoth, which instead is a colossal purple people-eater.
Fonte Wikipedia:
Behemoth is a Polish extreme metal band from Gdańsk, formed in 1991. They are considered to have played an important role in establishing the Polish extreme metal underground.
Until the late 1990s, the band played a traditional black metal style with heathen lyrical content, but soon changed to that of occult and thelemic themes written by their lead vocalist Nergal and Krzysztof Azarewicz. With the 1999 release of Satanica, the band demonstrated their presence in the death metal scene, while retaining their own signature style characterized by the drum work of Inferno, multi-layered vocals and Middle-Eastern influences. Despite Behemoth having been labeled as death metal or thrash metal-influenced, Nergal has mentioned that he does not like the band to be labeled.
Mercedes Benz 600 Pullman
Produced between 1963-1981, this rare breed aim to satisfy the sophisticated taste of the exclusive customers, whose include John Lennon, Hugh Hefner, Jack Nicholson, Rowan Atkinson, Fidel Castro, King Hussien and obviously some royal clientele. There are quite limited number of them across the globe, and this one here is on loan to Mercedes World by some bloke.
A far shot of the Behemoth, this is by far my favorite roller coaster of all time, (so far) even better than the Kumba at Busch Gardens.

A bottle of Behemoth from Three Floyds Brewing Company in Munster, Indiana, at Deep Ellum in Boston, MA.
Behemoth is a 12% abv barley wine. It poured a golden red-brown color with a tan head. Nice sweet aroma with plenty of hops. Velvety smooth and sweet mouthfeel. Flavor starts out sweet, with caramel, raisins and a grainy bread note. Then the hops kick in, good piny hops. There's also a good hop bitterness, that cleans up the palate after the sweet start. Wonderful bittersweet finish. A delicious barley wine!
This is probably the largest oval clay tile corn crib I've seen to date. It looked to be in perfect condition on a neatly manicured farmstead in rural Clinton County,IA.
The gigantic monster mentioned at the end of the book of Job (well, one of them), Behemoth is likely a reference to an extant dinosaur (trust me, that book is old) or other now-extinct creature, or just something mythological. It is certainly not an elephant or hippo, as neither have a "tail like a cedar." But basically: Big thing, herbivorous, semi-aquatic, HUGE.
And then rabbinic tradition made it kind of an apocalyptic god-beast. Weirdos.
Okay, more background time:
The point of the Book of Job actually is not "Why do bad things happen to good people," but rather, "Can you know the mind of God?" After tons of discussion, Job, his three friends, and another guy named Elihu get interrupted by God who flat-out says, "Where were you when I created the universe? So, tell me all the mysteries of creation - of course YOU know them!" in a heavily-sarcastic way of saying that no, you can't know the mind of God. Job actually never is told why he suffered, with no idea of the book that would persist through millennia.
So, what does this have to do with Behemoth? At one point in God's long speech to Job, he discusses animals - "Do you know when the mopuntain goats give birth," and such. And one part of that section has the Behemoth and Leviathan, both lumped in with the other animals, and both sounding pretty fantastical. You know, "Are you stronger than this gigantic thing? Huh?"
So there you have it. one minor illustration turned into a massive debate!
