This is not a particularly good shot but it's interesting in as much as this female balckbird has learned a feeding technique from a song thrush. Breaking garden snails up for a meal has always been a trick of the thrush but here this blackbird is having a go. Mind you, she needs to improve her technique a bit. A thrush would be banging the snail on a rock noyt the grass. It took her 10 minutes to get her snail out and half of it was left in the shell. Still, she came back for more so she must have thought it worth the effort.

Weird wasp behaviour
In a country car park today a swarm of wasps was feeding on dead insects on car bumper bars.
As every new car came in it was checked and cleaned by the wasps.
I have never seen this behaviour before.
Has anyone seen anything similar ?
It took me a while to realise this was a Dunnock. He was so fluffed up to keep warm that at first I actually thought it was a Wren. It was only its behaviour that made me look closer. It's not a terribly good shot as it's a fairly big crop, but I don't see these birds often, so I'm sharing anyway.
The larger kid is already butting the smaller ones around. Horripiliation, tail wagging and head down gestures reveal antagonistic intent.
