In my sculpture class we are starting Relief Sculpture, and we need to design something that we can relief. I wanted to do something with my original comicbook hero, Beardman, but I wasn't sure what else to do and then I thought about making it a Golden Age style comic book cover. Cheesy sentences, breaking the fourth wall by the creators, and only 10 cents an issue.
So the back story (Not the origin story, I'm still figuring that out.) of Beardman is that a friend and I were talking about superheroes and how none of them have any facial, or at least ones you can't see their faces (Mr. Stark) or don't really need a secret identity (Mr. Strange), the only one I can think of is Green Arrow when he got a goatee. Well, I decided that I would make a superhero, and his power would be to control his facial follicles, and their strength and shape. For example, he can turn his beard into a fist, or into multiple appendages that are 15 feet long (for example, I haven't determined a limit yet) so he can be a bit like Doctor Octopus and move faster.
He doesn't need a mask because the mustache turns into one for him, and he can retract the beard and blend in with the crowd when the heroics are over. He's also got a big biker theme going on which just makes him cooler, but my possible origin was that he used to work in a lab trying to regrow hair for the consuming public and then an explosion of the chemicals hit his face and he became Beardman, but that doesn't match up in my opinion,
He also has a sworn nemesis; Ra-zor. I do have a sketches in a sketchbook of mine of both Beardman and Ra-Zor stand-alones, and another where they are engaged in combat. Ra-zor is all about the shaving deal, and he has created drones using blades for both flight and cutting at Beardman's bodacious beard.
