Hummingbirds are birds from the Americas that constitute the family Trochilidae. They are among the smallest of birds, most species measuring 7.5–13 cm (3–5 in) in length.
They are known as hummingbirds because of the humming sound created by their beating wings which flap at high frequencies audible to humans. They hover in mid-air at rapid wing-flapping rates, which vary from around 12 beats per second in the largest species, to more than 80 in some of the smallest. Of those species that have been measured in wind tunnels, their top speed exceeds 15 m/s (54 km/h; 34 mph) and some species can dive at speeds in excess of 22 m/s (79 km/h; 49 mph).
Hummingbirds have the highest metabolism of any homeothermic animal. To conserve energy when food is scarce, and nightly when not foraging, they can go into torpor, a state similar to hibernation, slowing to 1/15th of its normal rate.

Yellow Wagtail (F) - Motacilla Flava
The yellow wagtail can be spotted running about, chasing insects on lowland damp marshes and meadows during summer. As its name suggests, it does wag its tail!
Classified in the UK as Red under the Birds of Conservation Concern 4: the Red List for Birds (2015).
The Yellow Wagtail likes damp marshes, meadows and farmland, and spends much of its time running about on the ground, chasing insects disturbed by the feet of livestock. Yellow wagtails nest on the ground or in long grass, using plants, grasses and stems to build a cup-shape which they line with fur. They can have up to two broods, each with five or six eggs. A summer visitor, they arrive from their African wintering grounds from March onwards.
The yellow wagtail is olivey-green above and yellow below, with a yellow face and a black-and-white tail. Males are brighter than females. The similar grey wagtail also has a yellow belly, but has a grey back and black wings. Yellow wagtails have much shorter tails than the other two species of breeding wagtail in the UK.

Widespread, mostly in the lowlands of Central and Eastern England, Wales and southern Scotland.

Fuentes de Navas conserva un casco urbano de gran belleza declarado Conjunto Histórico en 1983, La plaza de Calvo Sotelo punto clave de la ciudad se situan dos grandes Palacios del s. XVII característicos de la arquitectura castellana, construcciones de ladrillo macizo, pierda, adobe, y tapial, fachadas con escudos nobiliarios. El ayuntamiento s. XX su arquitectura recuerda las antiguas edificaciones consistoriales de dos plantas de tronera y reloj.
En la calle Mayor alberga la Casa de la Cruz, una antigua Capilla del s. XX hoy salón parroquial, y una Casa fechada en el s., XVII sede del Centro de visitantes de la La Guna de la Nava.
La mayor joya de su casco urbano son sus iglesias. La iglesia de San Pedro su torre de 65m de estilo tardo-gótico rematada con una linterna octogonal es conocida con el sobrenombre de Estrella de Campos. en su interior destaca el retablo Mayor atribuido a Juan de Balmaseda, con obras de Berruguete y Juan de Villondo entre otro artistas del Renacimiento.
La iglesia de Santa María s. XVI catalogada en 1978 de Interés Cultural con categoría de Monumento. Destacan los impresionantes artesanados mudéjares policromados de estilo castellano.
Estas iglesias forman parte de la ruta de Tierras del Renacimiento de la provincia de Palencia.

RAMAL DE CAMPOS.
A un kilometro de Calahorra de Ribas se localiza la 1ª esclusa de retención obedeció a la necesidad de regular el cauce del rio Carrión ante posibles crecidas.
En las proximidades se localiza la denominada acequia de Retención que permite el riego de 4000 hectáreas entre Ribas de Campos y Palencia.
El inicio de este tramo, en Calahorra de Ribas, es también el inicio del Ramal de Campos. Una tupida alameda acompaña el inicio de este tramo, como resultado del cruce con el rio Carrión. Enseguida encontramos la esclusa de la tercera retención. Mas adelante se pasa por la Laguna de Valdemudo un humedal de gran importancia ecológica, al final de la recta por la que discurre el Canal se encuentra el puente de Valdemudo junto a la Venta antiguo punto importante hoy abandonado. siete kilómetros mas abajo encontramos El Serrón y las esclusas 25,26, y 27, donde nace el ramal del Sur. El recorrido sigue por el ramal de Campos hasta llegar a Villaumbrales, donde se puede ver un precioso puente apuntado y la Casa del Rey actualmente restaurada que alberga el Museo del Canal. El Canal sigue hasta Becerril al que se accede por el puente de San Juan. A unos kilómetros de Becerril se llega a la meta del tramo: Sahagún el Real. Es un pueblo que nació del Canal, posteriormente abandonado y hoy restaurados algunos edificios. Merece la pena detenerse a observar los embarcaderos, almacenes, el puente y la Ermita del Canal. Desde este punto se puede admirar un hermoso paisaje de Tierra de Campos.

Akragos derroto a los cartagineses en la batalla de Himera año 480 a.C. Posteriormente, 60 años más tarde Cartago destruyó la ciudad. Dos siglos después la ciudad es conquistada por los romanos, que la rebautizaron con el nombre de Agrigentum, dandole una nueva época de esplendor.

What could be better than a drive across the glorious heather moors before dropping down into the stunning village of Staithes on the North Yorkshire coast? Once a busy fishing community, Staithes is a jumble of whitewashed, pantile-roofed cottages clinging to the hillside, threaded through with narrow ginnels leading to the pretty harbour and beach.
The young James (later Captain) Cook had his first job here (as an apprentice grocer, oddly, not a seaman), and the cobbles, alleys and cottages are pretty much as they were in the eighteenth century.

a rockface of multiple small waterfalls coming down a tremendously high mountain (Hestur mountain) in Hestfjordur along Iceland's Westfjords. The whole scenario looked so enchanting I thought this had to be a natural bathtub destined to offer dryads and nymphs a refreshing bath ;)

PAREDES de NAVA
La localidad castellana de de gran importancia política, social y cultural. Tuvo como señores, entre otros, a la familia Manrique, que ostento el titulo de condes de Paredes de Nava hasta nuestros días. De esta estirpe procede Jorge Manrique, poeta que nació en esta villa autor de las afamadas Coplas para honrar la muerte de su padre. Otra de las sagas de artistas castellanos son Pedro Beruete primer pintor renacentista de la Corona de Castilla y su hijo Alonso Beruete uno de los principales escultores del Renacimiento español.
El mayor esplendor de la villa aún podemos encontrar importantes muestras de patrimonio . entre ellas; Iglesia de Museo de Santa Eulalia construido entre los siglos XII-XVI, alberga una importante colección de obras de arte comprendidas entre los siglos XII-XVIII. destaca el retablo mayor con pinturas de Pedro Beruete. Otros templos son Santa María, San Juan y San Martin (hoy centro de interpretación de Tierra de Campos). El convento de Santa Brígida, la ermitas de Nuestra Señora del Carmen y del Cristo de la Vera Cruz.
Dentro de de la arquitectura civil "El pósito" y diversas viviendas palaciegas. De gran interés, el Ayuntamiento instalado en las dependencias del antiguo convento de San Francisco y el Hospital de San Marcos. Merece atención su arquitectura popular de Tierra de Campos con edificios de adobe, tapial y ladrillo.
La villa conto con desde su fundación con una muralla que defendía de los ataques sufridos en época medieval.
Fuera del casco urbano dos puntos de de visita obbigada , la ermita de la virgen Carrejas patrona de la localidad y el conjunto "Las casas del Rey" junto al Canal de Castilla donde se encuentra la única ermita construida en el Canal.
