According to Glimpses of Gawler vol1 p 30 "The infant pine tree at the south-western corner of Jacob and Reid Streets eventually became reputedly the largest decorated Christmas Tree in the Southern Hemisphere when first festooned by lights in 1984 by businessman Derek Sutch. The house on the property was built by Edward Clement(s) , Mayor of Gawler 1869 and 1870 (71)."
