Soirée BB+ - Burger Quiz - Lundi 24 Janvier 2022

Ok, something weird I do that likely is a complete wast of time. It a hybrid of two common methods, running the chainstays a little long or running them a little short into the BB shell. Little short has some benefits, super clean brazing being the primary one, no filler on threads situation, if done right. On the other hand running them long one gets the maximum brazing area possible. This is a hybrid of both long and short, So the chainstay is just slightly proud of the threads and then I add a large chamfer at around 35 degree angle approximately, so that the OD of tube wall is slightly below the threads of the shell. The idea is I created a valley that the filler braze will fill. This BB has lots of internal reliving past the threads so that part of the chainstay is very proud of the shell and I’ll just leave it as is. Then run the Bb taps through and that’s it, no grinding and most of the tap be hitting filler and very little 4130. Again, if you’re an experienced frame builder, your probably rolling your eyes right about halfway through this post. I think I’ve been a factor ( minor, but everything helps) into driving several people I’ve worked with into alcoholism with this kinda shit! :)
