A Great Blue Heron and Green Heron turn their backs on the bright glare of the rising sun over Lake Mark Kramer.
Where y’at? Kei's Bayou Set at Gacha Garden is pretty amazing. The air-boat is actually driveable and the queen of the set... for me at least. We can finally retire the pirogue and drive the gators insane around Blueberry Bayou as we head out to the Island. Speaking of Blueberry, there are camo colors in the FATPACK hud of the Daisy Top! Number three in the "Birds Eating Menhaden" series is an immature Little Blue Heron on Horsepen Bayou. This is a second-year bird mostly transitioned from solid white into its adult plumage of blue-gray. The snag it is feeding from is currently the premier fishing pier on the bayou. Over the past couple of weeks I have seen probably more than 20 birds take their turn hitting the gulf menhaden here, with the average perch time of about 5 minutes before another bird comes in and claims the spot.
Next door to the bar, backed up to the bayou, and just down the road from the graveyard is this little prayer shack where one can enter, light a candle, and say a prayer to save their souls from what they have done, will do, and from the voodoo spirits that come out from the graveyard every night.

Bayou La Batre is the seafood capital of Alabama, but most people know it from the movie Forrest Gump. Bayou La Batre is where Forrest and Lieutenant Dan started their shrimpin’ business. As the seafood industry faded over the years Bayou La Batre turned to ship building. While I wouldn’t say they are thriving they are at least holding their own. I processed this image in Photoshop and although I haven’t done any black and white for several years it seemed to me to work best for this image.
I caught this shot during my brief stay in Bayou Le Batre. I processed and textured this image in Photoshop.
Bayou La Batre is the seafood capital of Alabama but its main industry is ship building. Most of the shrimp boats you find there would have been built locally. I processed this image in Photoshop and textured it using Lenabem-Anna J’s textures 334, and 389 plus a couple of other textures.
I only had a few days at Bayou La Batre and as this was my first trip to the area I didn’t know my way around. I got to this spot a little late and only had a shot time before dark. Being in a hurry my exposure was terrible. It took a lot of work but it turned out better than I expected. Processing and texturing were done in Photoshop.
Tucker Bayou provides access to Choctawhatchee Bay, Intracoastal Waterway and many nearby creek and river tributaries. I am fortunate enough to live an hour's drive away from here.
