An image taken even later as the sun rises at Hillarys boat harbour. Note, even more colour and the moon has almost set in this image. Picture is taken across the marina where the new moorings are to be.
Taken in Hillock Wood, Buckinghamshire, I loved the way this tree seems to be barging its way through the conifers!
This is my only picture of a barge - if you look close enough...
I suppose it's not really a picture of a barge after all.
Downings Roads Moorings, London. The houseboats are interconnected with garden barges but the final one nearest the ramp to dry land seems to be where the residents park their bikes.
I understand that this is one of a number of Ferrous Concrete Barges (FCB's) used for transporting and storing fuel in WW2. After the war, this one was anchored at Barling Hall and was used at one stage, to process shellfish.
Essex Barling Hall Creek.
MV Syntan, an ex-working barge previously operated by Richard Hodgson’s Tannery to carry hides and other tanning materials from Hull docks to the Beverley Beck, and then by road to the Tannery which was situated in Flemingate.
Syntan now acts as a museum, heritage centre and community resource for meetings, parties and so on. Seen on the Humber during The Queen Platinum Jubllee Celebrations .
A barge guided by a somewhat hidden tug boat (white cabin on left) is moving into the locks. In actuality the barge was so long it was split into two sections - this the second half.
Once into the lock the barge will be lifted by the water and then exit at other end.
These barges contained coal ashes - and ironically the plant behind the barge is a coal burning power plant.
