Located only 135 km from Venice, this resort extends along the left bank of Lake Santa Caterina at around 900 metres above sea level.
Surrounded by forests and some of the most beautiful mountain massifs in the Dolomites – it is the only urban centre from which the Tre Cime di Lavaredo are visible.

I'm a fog and mist junkie. Love the way light bounces around water droplets for pics- especially in the morning. I've been missing it for one reason or another, but today I got lucky and a fog bank came rolling into the area I was hikiing.

Notice the dead looking tree on the right. It is suffering from Ash Dieback and like so many more Ash trees branches will break away and it will be felled.
Happy Bench Monday

Have a great evening.. thank for stopping by..
Set up near a sand bank that was being used as nesting by these little speed demons.
It took a bit of time and a lot of misses; but I eventually got some ok'ish flight shots. This is my favourite.
This is a view of Currituck Sound on the Outer Banks of North Carolina heading north from Duck to Corolla. The Atlantic Ocean is on the right of where I am. This photo was taken several years ago. I sure wish I was there now. The ocean breezes would be quite a relief from the heat and humidity.
Seen on the corner, it's been a Barclays Bank as long as I can remember and a bank in pictures over a century old.
It closes the doors for good in the first week of June 2020. Santander closed their branch further up the road in June 2017, and it still remains empty.
Banks closing in high streets is never good news to residents and local shops.
Whilst waiting for some Redwing to photograph, this cute and curious bank vole would venture out and investigate his surroundings. It would have been rude not to have taken his photo. :-)
Straw-necked Ibis (Threskiornis spinicollis)
I am still seeing large flocks of Straw-necked Ibis.
Happy Wing Wednesday!
