Yes, an action shot! BallUp basketball team from the StreetBall League. I redid this shot and have a version with a less angled background. I am hoping to post the final on my web site soon.
One five foot Photoflex octodome as my overhead light, two Large Photoflex soft boxes with grids from the sides. First time I have used the Einstein's for high speed action. Killer performance.
Background shot HDR with five exposures in one stop increments.

Another shot from the BallUp basketball team apart of the StreetBall League. The whole idea was to photograph the players in a assortment of street scenes.
Very typical of my sports portrait approach. One five foot Photoflex octodome as my overhead light, two Large Photoflex soft boxes with grids from the sides.
Background shot HDR with five exposures in one stop increments.

Shooting for BallUp today. A traveling street ball competition. This morning, the outdoor tryouts to play the national BallUp team tonite at the Independence Event Center in Metro KC. Fun and spirited tryouts. Nikon D4 | ISO 320 | 24-70mm lens at 60mm | f / 4.0 | 1/1600 second, lit by an SB900.
Well this is the first Halloween that my boys have ever had the opportunity of going trick or treating in our ACTUAL neighborhood.. We never felt safe doing so in Wylie. But since the move this year to McKinney, all has changed. We've definitely settled into our new environment and feel "right at home". The boys have adjusted to their new school district, and have made many friends, much of whom live in the area they will be trick or treating. Aric wanted to be black spiderman (not venom) from the Professor series. He's a basketball player from Ball Up that plays streetball against unknowing victims in a spiderman costume. The most recent episode of the series, he was in a black spiderman costume, so Aric wanted to be him.. Ant wanted to be Kevin Durant, complete with the "nerd" glasses and hat.. We got him the authentic uniform of course, because that's just how we do it.. And Emoe is a Mighty King, in this case, "Anthony" since he's wearing his uniform.. All in all, I think the boys had an amazing time.. This was just the beginning.. I know they came home w/ a BOATLOAD of candy.. They must have done SOMETHING right..

Thanks to Kia Motors my wife Misa Rawlins and I were invited to see the Lakers take on the Wizards last night in the District of Columbia. Since Kobe Bryant just announced that this will be his last season as a member of the Los Angeles Lakers, the narrative of the the shooting guard’s NBA career has changed precipitously from a declining superstar to a retiring legend. The farewell tour is in full effect and began with parting gifts from the 76ers during a home game with Julius Erving this past Tuesday. And of course arenas have increased ticket prices to see the basketball outlier perform one last time in the flesh.
