Designed and built in 1929. The ballroom was a major venue for bands of the 1930s and 1940s. Built in an Art Deco styling with an Aztec theme. At 5600 sq feet, it was meant to hold around a 1000 couples. The maple dance floor was built on springs to give the dancers a bounce as they moved.
After closing around 1958, it reopened in the mid 60s as a concert venue. With shows a couple times a week, bands such as the MC5; The Stooges; and Ted Nugent and The Amboy Dukes played here. Soon the doors closed again.
Also more recently featured in a the Eminem movie, "8 Mile".
It now sits empty, neglected and dilapidated like many other historic locations in Detroit.
One of my favourite hotels, The Ritz (where I am staying right now), has turned what used to be the Club into The Beardsley Ballroom.
It looks great and I understand the idea is to hold live events there in future.

This was the larger of two ballrooms. Moveable walls could separate it into two or three different spaces at the same time.

Should Mr Trump's "ballroom" ever be completed and, given that he would insist on personally inaugurating it with a dance, then we have finally found the ideal dancing partner for him: the Dancing Queen, one who doesn't ask questions, is used to stick her nose in the dirt anyway, can digest everything given to her, including insults, and, finally, one who has a skin thicker than his. Mirow Castle, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Germany
From 1749 to 1760 the baroque Mirow Castle was built according to plans by Christoph Julius Löwe. The simple building has a precious interior. Worth seeing is the ballroom with a lavish stucco decoration and wall decorations made of colored marble.
Giovanni Battista Clerici from Italy created this vivid stucco universe.
