The gold rush ... to the blue gold of a limpid sky !

Throughout the July 4th weekend hot-air balloonists from all over the country converged on our region to float en masse above the Hudson River.
The launches take off from the banks of the Hudson River soon after sunrise and before sunset.

I wasn't very pleased with the glow this year, they had way to many stadium lights on to be able to see the balloons glow nicely. This is the best glow show I could get compared to the nice ones last year.
Unidentified flying object. If you are a bird, this is exactly what it is. Their reaction is to dive into the foliage and sit there quietly until the threat has gone away, in just the same manner as they do when a wedge-tailed eagle is circling above.

This evening when we landed, we were treated to this full moon rising.
Well, in truth, we were actually treated to this while up in the air; we saw the full moon rising above the horizen while up in the air and it was really cool looking, although I was too busy flying to try to get a shot of that.
So I got this shot when we landed.
But lately I feel like I need to get offline, not online, but offline. So I might not be online too much, I hope you'll understand.

Alright... That last photo I posted was kinda lame, so I thought I'd post something with some color. I went back through all the balloon crap back in Albiquirquee a couple months ago. You can't go wrong with an Albaquerqui Balloon Fiesta photo. Everybody loves the damn balloons!

The European Balloon Festival is the largest hot air balloon festival in Spain and one of the largest in Europe. It takes place every year during the first fortnight of July in Igualada, Catalonia, Spain, a city located within 60 km from Barcelona.
The festival lasts four days (Thursday to Sunday) and attracts thousands of spectators. It includes a hot air balloon competition and recreational exhibitions such as a night glow and fireworks. The flights take place early in the morning and late in the afternoon, when weather conditions are the optimal ones. It also offers visitors the opportunity to fly on a balloon, by booking a flight in advance.
The festival is organized by the Igualada City Council, with technical support from the company Ultramagic, the world's second largest manufacturer of hot air balloons, and Kon-Tiki Balloon Flights, a company specialized in balloon flights.
