I found the strangest orchid flowers ever at the Montreal Botanical Garden's greenhouse today. Thanks to Sonke Haas we now have a name for this strange flower: Bulbophyllum maximum. The plant is found all over tropical Africa growing as a lithophyte and as an epiphyte in open woodlands and riverine forests at elevations of 600 to 2100 meters.
The image above is a composite of 2 shots, with the original messy background removed. Each one of the small orange-red flowers is about 1/4in. long.

3 camera+ photos, backgrounds removed in superimpose. Figure worked on in FaceTune with some added painting in Procreate. All was then combined in iColorama with parts of my real watercolor effects photographed & blended in using many blend modes with some brush work & stamped brushes from Procreate & iColorama....and many hrs. later got something acceptable./ Watercolor Salt Brush mine & made for Procreate. My Feather brushes were imported into iColorama.
Built this Viking ship and 9 vikings for a House of Denmark LUG event. The tree I repurposed from a previous LUG event.
Yes, I know, Vikings did not wear horns on their helmets as much as we think they did and they also did not just battle and pillage villages. They also farmed, traded and setup villages, but such is the stereotype that is engrained in our minds, so here is a stereotypical image of the Vikings, on the occasional battle when they ran low on food and supplies.
Originally I meant to build a minifigure scale Viking ship, but quickly I realized that the bottom ship hull pieces were too wide and so miniland scale it became.

Early 16th cent. two-handed sword of Highland-type in the National Museum of Scotland, Edinburgh, UK. The sword’s total length is 148.6 cm; the blade is 111.8 cm long. Weighing 2.6 kg, it is one of the heavier examples of the type.

We have been regular sponsors of Big Cat Rescue for many years, and have always wanted to visit. This year was our chance to do that, so we booked a tour to go and see the wonderful work that BCR do to save big cats that would otherwise have miserable existences, cramped cages, abuse, or worse! No sanctuary is ever perfect, and certainly not as ideal as them staying in the wild, but only a very few of their charges can be returned to the wild. Those that can, are.
Given the circumstances, BCR do an absolutely incredible job of giving these cats a forever home in large enclosures that give the cats as much freedom, space and playfulness as is possible! All credit to BCR!!!
We booked our visit to see the cats being fed, which was a privilege and a joy. The only downside was that, for their, our and the staff's safety they must be fed in a largely fenced off part of the enclosure.
I did not want to give anyone the impression that these beautiful creatures are fenced in small enclosures, so I have spent considerable time and effort to digitally remove the bars from the shots. Some were more successful than others, but I hope you will get a sense of the passion we have for these beautiful, beautiful creatures.
