Deep into the forests of the region of Värmland in Sweden, lies this well-hidden car cemetery. Hundreds of cars from the 40s, 50s, and 60s are spread out in the area, some of them covered with moss, with trees growing through them, stacked on top of each other or placed side by side. While it has not been confirmed, many of the cars are said to have belonged to the US military who left the autos after World War II.

This aircraft, the only remaining airworthy Blackburn B-2, was built in 1936 and delivered to Flying Training Ltd at Hanworth, fitted with a Hermes IVA engine in common with the rest of the Hanworth fleet. It returned to Brough with all the other B-2s in 1939 and was retained by Blackburn Aircraft Ltd when the other B-2s were taken over by the RAF. Post war, it was fitted with a Gipsy Major I engine and continued to be based and to fly from Brough where it was initially used for instruction at the Blackburn-sponsored Brough Flying Club. Latterly it has been exhibited over many years at various flying meetings and now forms part of the Heritage Fleet of aircraft owned by BAE Systems. In 2006 BAE Systems decided to relocate the B-2 to Old Warden and, after a refurbishment, it came here in early 2008 where it joins the de Havilland Cirrus Moth and Avro C19 (Anson) also owned by BAE.

The info at the Shuttleworth Collection is that this is 1936, but as you can see it says 1932 on the plane

B2 bomber at USAFA

Near the hamlet of Valley Park, MO, a B-2 Spirit makes a sweeping turn back home to Whiteman AFB in western Missouri.

I took a class on Shakespeare way, way back in high school, and it appears I also failed "Introduction To Both Sides Of Symmetry" my freshman year. Now I make stupid Shakespeare jokes and post crappy cell phone shots on Flickr.

Man, I bet my parents are proud of how my life turned out.

Au début, j'ai cru que la vieille dame cherchait des miettes de pain à distribuer aux oiseaux. En fait elle regarde dans son porte-monnaie. Elle est très réaliste. On croirait vraiment qu'elle vient juste de faire son marché...

All done, including a wash & wax. Ready for the MOT now.

A few years ago a friend gave me their Bolsey B2 35mm camera, made between 1949 and 1956. It's got a 44mm f3.2 Wollensak triplet lens, coated. It should perform really well, but in use, it's poor at apertures below f8, and barely acceptable at f11 and up. This frame was from a short roll of MZ-3 copy film (3 ASA, incredibly fine grain and very sharp: good for lens performance tests) and while it has an interesting look, that lens just isn't up to much. Shot at f16.

Master of the skies the powerful white tailed eagle.The UK's largest and most powerful bird making it's final approach.

This bird is a fabulous advert for conservation and a great blueprint for the reintroduction of other former native species..

White tailed eagles were driven to extinction in the UK by the ill advised hand of man, with the last bird being shot on Shetland in 1916.

These gorgeous birds were reintroduced on Rum in 1975 with further releases on Wester Ross in 1993. Since then most of the eagle population has found it's way to Mull where a healthy population is now well established.

Once again the population is starting to spread out across western Scotland and the Isles.
