Not often do I publish in black and white, but I'll make an exception for this one. I hope you'll like it.

My favorite weather in the dunes at this time of year...

The last day before my holiday I paid a final visit to the AWD ( Amsterdamse Waterleidingduinen) together with my son...I did not regret it...

Rain after sunshine or ..?

Finally there was a small touch of winter in Holland, so when there was time I tried to go out and pick up the atmosphere, so the next few days I will publish some "Winter" pictures, the weatherforecast for tomorrow is....rain...

Amsterdamse Waterleidingduinen

A very long time ago there was snow in the Amsterdamse Waterleidingduinen (AWD)

Hope to see it again some day...

Most of the AWD SUVs never experience places like this. They seem to prefer paved roads :)

Just a reason to visit the Amsterdamse Waterleidingduinen...

Damhert AWD Amsterdamse waterleidingduinen Fallow deer

The AWD (Amsterdam Waterfiltration Dunes) is one of the largest coastal nature reserves (3500 ha) in the Netherlands consisting of sanddunes, forest, open fields and also a rich variation in flora and fauna. You wil find sheep, cows, mouflons, deer, foxes, marters, butterflies, woodpeckers and many other animals and birds living together in different area's of the AWD.

I was in the AWD`(Amsterdamse Waterleiding Duinen) last week. I just love that area.

Originally meant as a basin to collect drinking water for the big cities surrounding it, it is riddled with canals, small forests and lots of sand dunes.

It is beautiful in every season but autumn is my favorite.

The area is inhabited by many Fallow Deer. (too many, some people think). As of November large numbers of them will be shot to bring the numbers down.

I was in the area at sunrise. As the sun rose, the fog started rising over the canals. And when there is a Fallow Deer jumping over that canal with the sun as back light, it really seems like it's part of a fairy tale.
