Lifting up an empty cup I ask silently

That all my destinations will accept the one that's me

So I can breath

(Very) small business in Abilene, Texas. Used to have a sign out front that read, "Far wood fer sale!" But the proprietor seems to have gotten out of the firewood line in order to focus on auto repairs?

Camera: Anscoflex II, circa 1955, with twin-element meniscus lens. This lens seems to focus best from about 6 feet to 30 feet, beyond which images soften considerably. It has a flip-in-place close-up lens, which I had no success with. www.flickr.com/photos/194048042@N06/51758911847/in/album-...

Film: ISO 100 Arista 120 roll film, respooled onto 620 spools. Most 620 cameras can hold a trimmed-down 120 roll of film, but not the Anscoflex. Only film re-spooled onto a 620 would work.

Browning is a town in Glacier County, Montana, United States. It is the headquarters for the Blackfeet Indian Reservation and the only incorporated town on the Reservation. The population was 1,018 at the 2020 census. The town was named in 1885 for Commissioner of Indian Affairs Daniel M. Browning.

Harlem & Addison Auto Service in Chicago.

I stopped in to see my local mechanic to have some minor work done on my car, and snapped this chaotic abstract of his workbench. Messy does not imply that he's incompetent; far from it. He just has no time for such niceties -- he was up until 2AM the night before working on repairs for clients. Jokingly known locally as either 'Boy Wonder' or "Child Mechanic", he started doing repairs at age 13. Now barely in his mid-twenties, he owns the building, the land, and is planning to add more space to his shop. Seen in rural western Ireland.

This appears to be an abandoned repair shop for cars, trucks and heavy equipment. Might even have sold a little diesel fuel, gasoline, plus tires and tubes.

The trunks up or is that the hood?

I took this photo in 2013, the last year that the place shows up in Google Street View. Today it is an empty lot. Here's a photo I took in 2005, when the place was in good condition. My hat's off to the skilled painter who really made this humble building sing.
