Many older Australians will be familiar with this car. It was a very popular model made between 1958 and the year of my birth, 1960. This is the General Motors Holden FC. Price brand new back then was around 1,100 pounds depending on the model variant. Powered by a good old straight six of about 2.2 litres capacity.

This is a 1/18th scale model made by a company called Classic Carlectibles who specialise in Australian models, and is one of just 800 or so that have been released of this particular model. They make many older model Holdens and Fords, and as model cars go, they are very high quality with all doors opening and working steering and suspension. I love this one for the wonderful detail, right down to the hubcaps in glorious chrome, and even the tyre valves.

Oh no! The sky is falling! Oh wait a second, that's just the OddBall. Not to worry, Jasper leaped up and got it.

This shot was from a little while ago. But even last night when the temperature was still 105ºF (~41ºC), Jasper wanted to go outside and catch some OddBalls. Thank goodness that didn't last long

A bit of Aussie Car Racing from Queensland Raceway.

This is an outtake from the "my dog and me" 52 weeks for dogs challenge last weekend. I had set up the tripod with camera on the other end of the lawn and I clicked of a ton of shots using a wireless remote as Jasper charged down the yard towards the camera chasing whatever. I wasn't going to post any more of them, but my wife said I should and I always do what my wife tells me 😜. Jasper is pretty darn good at catching that OddBall, snagging it out of the air despite it's size and odd shape.

Though it started out relatively cool on our visit to Boyce Thompson Arboretum on Sunday, Jasper took some pleasure in just remaining in the shadows and people watching with Jean as I flitted about photographing birds and lizards and whatnot.

Aussie Shores is a gorgeous beach with excellent waves. There are lovely rentals on the beach and directly on the water. Aussie Shores is made up of two islands, and there are many scenic spots to hang out with friends or to enjoy a special date. There’s a massage table on the water, a small club with dance balls, and Austailian wildlife all over.

A fast growing and bushy plant to 2 metres tall, useful for informal hedging and screening, as well as for container growing. It has large mid pink lightly perfumed flowers throughout spring and summer. The flower petals are edible. Foliage is lightly furry. Waterwise and a low maintenance plant. Frost tolerant and can be used for coastal sites.

Found these beautiful wildflowers in the bush yesterday. They certainly make a splash of gold among the bushland. This flower is part of the Pea family, I haven't yet identified exactly which one it is. The flowers are very small.

Your standard three-step process for capturing a Chuckit that takes a wonky bounce. Some quick fun in the green space this morning before it gets too hot. I checked the temp yesterday when we took our 5:30PM walk. It was 111°F (~44°C), but just 9% humidity, so a dry heat. We made it a short walk.

Aussie summer cafe life

We were reunited with Jasper last night after our week-long Christmas holiday trip to the frigid north visiting family. Jasper was much more in the mood to play than to stop and take photos. But a quick pause at sunset seemed a reasonable thing to ask.

Jasper off sniffing his way through the shrubberies as dogs will do

A funky mesquite tree caught my eye so I asked Jasper to pose on our walk last night. Didn't get much of the tree in the frame, but Jasper was the real subject anyway 😉

Winnie with his great-great-grandmother Pitu

Not the most clever title ever written, but it seemed apt enough 😁. I always walk Jasper alone on Sunday mornings. And his pre-dawn Sunday morning walks have reduced from 3-4 miles (~5+ km) to about 1 mile (1.6 km) over the years. But the weather the past month has been just fabulous. So for about the last month or two, after getting home from the gym, I ask him if he wants to go for another walk. He jumps to his feet, affirming his desire. He's been taking me on about an extra 2 mile (~3.2 km) walk. I think he's turning into a "not a morning dog". At 5AM, he's like, "lets keep this short so I can get the rest of my breakfast and a little more shuteye." But at 9AM, he's like, "Chip chop, chap! We got some walking to do." A very long way to tell you that I often bring my camera with on the second Sunday morning walk, and this was from last Sunday.

When you sleep with your head on the Oddball, a little bit of it seeps into the brain, directing your dreams to fun times.

We got our second covid vaccine shots yesterday. I'm very happy about that. Maybe soon we can socialize. Travel. Go to the gym. Won't that be grand? Though I think Jasper has grown rather used to having me home all day. On the handful of days I've gone into the office, my wife reported that Jasper has been a bit confused, wondering just where the heck I was.

At age 13.5, Jasper may not have the agility of a puppy, but he has the attitude of one. He still really wants us to engage in play after dinner. And of course we indulge him. Cuz he's a GOOD BOOOY!

Scenery taken from the Puffing Billy train ride through the Dandenongs, near Melbourne.

Lacking my usual ball-tossing assistant (aka: Jean, my wife) last weekend, I decided to shoot blind. Jasper is fond of taunting us with his ball. He wants us to grab and tug or chase. His joy at that activity is so self-evident. Hand's-eye view of the taunt.

Jasper kept an eye out for critters on our Saturday evening walk. Something up that mesquite tree!
