top layer is squiggly gum bark.......middle layer is a mixture of native and introduced species and the bottom is a bottle brush seed pod.
After a bunch of play, I asked Jasper to sit for a portrait. Please ignore the droplet dangling from his tongue. It was a bit warm, so his internal air conditioning system was on full 😎
Jasper may be approaching 14, but that play drive is still there. This was a challenge to see if I can get to Daisy Duck before he did. I didn't stand a chance!
Enjoying our late afternoon stroll Saturday. Shot blind because I like the low PoV without having to actually bend down 😜
Photo taken on our trip to Loire Valley in France. The Château de Chenonceau was dog friendly and she was able to walk around the beautiful gardens and was able to be carried inside the castle. It also had the maze garden that Laika had fun running around in circles.

If you mean roadrunner Jasper, then yes.
When your human loves bird photography, you spend some time behind the bird blind and eventually you can identify a species or two. Oddly enough Jasper has never chased birds. But he'll stop and watch as a great blue heron or other large species soars overhead. So he's content just to be a birdwatcher.
Yes, I know I'm biased, but I think Jasper is darned handsome. He's got movie star good looks, in my opinion. Exploring Boyce Thompson Arboretum in this shot. Its one of Jasper's (and his humans') favorite parks.
Jasper's less than subtle hint to me that I should get up off my butt and chase him. This photo, of course, doesn't capture the sound that accompanied "hint". Repeated chomps of the jaw produced loud squeaks. I'm a little surprised that about a month since getting that ball, it's still in pretty good shape, squeaking as loud as ever
Jasper pauses under a mesquite tree to appreciate the beauty of the riparian preserve. Plus, hopefully Mom and Dad get the hint and give him some ice water and a little treat.
Jasper was just insane about play last night. I typically take a little work break and feed him around 4:30PM. Yesterday I wrapped up a call and Jasper could sense it was time. He grabbed Wuffy and wanted to go right outside with him. "Don't you want to eat first, Jasper?" "Yeah, ok, maybe", indicated Jasper. After he ate, we played and played. It was funny, I'd sometimes make Wuffy say in an Austrian accent (like Arnold Schwarzenegger), "Look at my marvelous abs and my glorious pecs!". That made Jasper mad and he'd grab Wuffy and violently shake him about as if to say, "I'm way tougher than you Wuffy, despite your abs and pecs!"
It seems Jasper has become a bit of a night owl. He'll play a little bit in the morning but not as much as he used to. Night time is a different story. After dinner is cleaned up, we've run Jasper through his tricks, and played with him for a while, it's time for the humans to relax. But Jasper doesn't buy into that. Evenings shouldn't be wasted on TV in his opinion. So there is a daily choice of toy to torment our evenings. And at least every commercial break, we chase him around and play have a good time. He's over 12 and not getting any younger so we're happy to keep him engaged and active. And smiling from atop his Ottoman Empire.
Not sure if hes a Texas or a British Long Horn. Currumbin Valley, Queensland, Australia. The first imports arriving in Australia in the 1980s.
A little bit of early morning sunlight hit Jasper as he posed for me with paws up on the horizontal trunk of this mesquite tree.
Jasper enters the portal to the oasis in the demonstration gardens at Boyce Thompson Arboretum in Superior, Arizona. Unfortunately a smile was not forthcoming, but he looks handsome anyway, IMO.
Fun times with Moosey in the back yard. Jasper knows you have to stay active and happy to maximize life!
We were watching TV last night and look what popped up over the arm of the sofa. First I played with Jasper, then Jean played then it was a whole family play. This is a rather squeaky ball which he's fond of making squeak. loudly. Good time for all.
We still get some walks in, but with the Stay at Home order we're getting some exercise in the backyard. Normally I like more even lighting but I liked the dappled light as Jasper emerged from the shadows with his OddBall.
I live in Australia and proud of it!
Tune: ♫♪
Here I am, give me something I could follow
So I can find my way out from the shadows
Raise your voice cause the time is now or never
And if we have to fall, we'll fall together
An awesome band from Aus!
You know, you work, and you work, and you work on your dog's diction. You train daily with lots of positive reinforcement and he comes out with, "Wanna do somefin?". Where did we go wrong?
I know. I'm being weird. Let's blame it on the Autumnal Equinox. Glad it's Friday :-)
Jasper's energy level peaks when both Mom and Dad are able to join him for games in the back yard. Games like "Capture the Moose"
Across the plains of the Serengeti sprinted dogs with wild frisbee catch in their jaws. From Saturday morning when Jasper got to run his new frisbee through it's paces. Jean and I are on vacation this week in Oregon doing some waterfall, wildlife and winery viewing. Perfect, except for the lack of Jasper :-( Sorry if I don't comment much this week
Jasper just hung out and watched me fill the hummingbird feeders the other night. I thought he looked cute sitting there all proper. Click.
Sometimes a bunny just gets in trouble and needs rescuing. Enter Jasper. Jasper went into the back yard only to find Betty Bunny flying through the air. Luckily, Jasper had his wits about him and managed to nab her from the air before any harm could befall her. Let's hope Betty's throat isn't too torn up after that catch 😮
Nothing like a little backyard game of OddBall. Fun times. That's our version of a Christmas tree in the background. Its evergreen and grows its own ornaments.
The Outback is the vast, remote, arid area of Australia. The term "the outback" is generally used to refer to locations that are comparatively more remote than those areas named "the bush" which, colloquially, can refer to any lands outside the main urban areas.
Some belated postings from Jan 26 (Australia Day). This is a national holiday and the weather was perfect so i set out on my bike to take some shots along the coast. This shot is of a yacht moored only metres from shore at Ocean Reef. Its a very quite spot as the beach cant be legally accessed by foot. I have a few more shots of this yacht It looked beautiful moored in this peaceful little bay. I think there were 2-4 people on board. You can see the blue water, the recreational craft in the distance and the people enjoying the water and lifestyle on the yacht. I love this series of shots as I believe it captures the lifestyle well on these beautiful sunny days.
We have the colors represented here. Starting from left to right, Tug, a Black Tri... next is Brooke, a Red Tri... then Ryder, a Blue Merle and last of all Della, a Red Merle.
Jasper just caught the Oddball by the seam on the corner. Still counts as a catch though. Still righteous! At 12.5 Jasper still has quite a bit of energy. We don't play as long anymore, but we still play quite a bit. Nothing like some backyard Oddball action to keep the body young.
Some belated postings from Jan 26 (Australia Day). This is a national holiday and the weather was perfect so i set out on my bike to take some shots along the coast. This shot is taken from the Mullaloo lookout and looks South over Key West Beach towards Mullaloo Beach. It is rare to see our beaches this crowded. Normally there would be far fewer people. In the distance you can see all the yachts and recreational craft at Pinnaroo Point Beach. I love this series of shots as I believe it captures the lifestyle well on these beautiful sunny days.
