The Prairie Warbler is not common in my area. This male was easily heard singing its buzzy notes among the scrubby trees on these lakeside dunes.

This bird's nest has been in our mailbox for over a year, in the paper compartment. We noticed it last year, and since we don't get the newspaper anymore, we just left it. So early this month I decided it was time to clean it out of there, and I was startled to find there were blue eggs in it! They were very small, about the size of my thumb nail. I think these are bluebird eggs. They were too small to be robin eggs, and the pattern did not match up with the red-winged blackbirds. All are prevalent in our yard.
We have lots of birds in our area, and lots of bluebirds.
I can't imagine how the eggs managed to stay intact all through last summer and this past winter. They were beautiful, and merited a photo.

Yellow snapdragons.
I like these flowers for the color and texture they add to the garden. Another nice thing is that they often reseed to come back another year (or two, or three).

Be part of the launch of "Where the Flowers Are," a fresh exhibition that marks the joint efforts of Julana Allen and EtaMae.
The AI-generated pictures of Julana are wonderfully color-matched with the new fabrics of EtaMae, thus opening the door to a fascinating and engaging Art showcase.
The evening will be graced by the incredible sounds of DJ and artist Noir Tater!

Went to see some Dahlias today and discovered that a lot of them are out later than this - but found a nice purple one thinking about it...
This milkweed plant was growing in the garden. I was going to pull it but upon inspection (have to look first!), I saw it had three Monarch Butterly larvae living off of it. So it stays and they eat and grow!

I photograph this sculpture from time to time when I can. It's located on Louisiana Blvd. SE in Albuquerque. I have to take it through the car window because there's really no where to stop to take a photo of it. I think it has a very futuristic appearance.
Here in the Northeast, we cant seem to go more than a day or two without it raining. I would prefer more sunny days but the flowers are definitely enjoying the moisture. As seen at Congress Hall in Cape May, New Jersey.

I went a different direction with the gardening this year and planted most of my annuals in pots. I can water them easily each morning as needed, and they are less vulnerable to the small critters that disrupt them in the gardens. I'm enjoying the extra color on the porch, too, where I sit some evenings and contemplate the world around us. Summer pleasures.
