I have a few favorite things in Green-Wood Cemetery that I revisit from time to time.

I am a Jew because, knowing the story of my people, I hear their call to write the next chapter. I did not come from nowhere; I have a past, and if any past commands anyone, this past commands me. I am a Jew because only if I remain a Jew will the story of a hundred generations live on in me. I continue their journey because, having come this far, I may not let it and them fail. I cannot be the missing letter in the scroll. I can give no simpler answer, nor do I know of a more powerful one.

Attachment Object One, Two and Three are a group of images based on rusted metal industrial relics found while digging in the garden, rather beautiful in their simplicity of form and function. They are the cast-offs of previous inhabitants, much like artifacts unearthed during an archaeological excavation. These particular objects were large, sharp nails or tools used to join one material to another. The title of this series is also a metaphor for our infatuation with things, our addiction to outcomes, and the detritus we may unwittingly leave behind.

You've been seeing that new hose again, haven't you.

Milpitas, California.

More than ever, I hope that all my friends and followers, the ones I watch and admire, will have a healthy, thoughtful and happy New Year.

I wish many people will experience a year with adequate reflection, consciousness and sense of realism. Calmness, in which each can grow and experience satisfyingly, how meaningful it is to give love and to receive it. A year in which humanity takes over from aversion, from unhealthy attachment or delusion. In which we are willing more frequently, to imagine the pain felt elsewhere.

I wish that we will be able to use our talents and creativity sustainably, by investing in nature instead of plundering it, that national representatives increase their willingness to cooperate in a global way, so that the natural environment stays clean and attractive for our children and grandchildren.

I hope that politicians are prone to set a good example, by creating more possibilities for scientists, science matters, for teachers, to continue and inspire students, for nurses, to take care of the vulnerable and for artists, because art expands our mind and keeps us upright.

I wish that you, my best Flickr friend, are going to meet a year, in which you will find more opportunities than you expected, to unfold all your creative photographic possibilities, so that we can enjoy what you made.

Happy New Year,

Frans

A strong foundation of support can aid tremendously in addiction recovery.

Christian Music Video | Gospel hymn | "Attachment to God" | English Christian Devotional Song With Lyrics

Introduction

God chose me from an ocean of crowds,

arranging me to come to His side.

His truthful and kind words warmed my heart.

Given the truth, in joy I reside.

His familiar voice, beautiful face

have never changed from the very start.

In His house, His sweet love I taste,

so I lean close and wish not to part.

God has never left my side. He sacrifices with no

complaint.

I’ll throw off corruption and be cleansed.

I’ll accompany God forever, forever.

Without God, the days became too hard.

I staggered along in painful stride.

His protection leads me all the way.

Now with God's words , I am satisfied.

Time brings changes, the world will evolve.

But nothing can part my heart from God.

A promise of millennia, unchanged oath.

Cycles of life and death, I am back to His side.

God has never left my side. He sacrifices with no

complaint.

I’ll throw off corruption and be cleansed.

I’ll accompany God forever, forever.

He’s sown life in my heart.

His words nurture me, giving trials, refinements.

Persecution and sufferings make my life stronger.

Failures are to temper me.

God has never left my side. He sacrifices with no

complaint.

I’ll throw off corruption and be cleansed.

I’ll accompany God forever, forever.

God has never left my side. He sacrifices with no

complaint.

I’ll throw off corruption and be cleansed.

I’ll accompany God forever, forever.
