Only now noticed that my lens was probably not so clean....
Mulranny (Irish: an Mhala RaithnÃ, meaning "the hill-brow of the ferns"[2])—sometimes spelled as 'Mallaranny', 'Mulrany',[2] 'Malaranny', 'Mullaranny', 'Mullranny' or 'Mulranny'—is a seaside village on the isthmus between Clew Bay and Blacksod Bay in County Mayo, Ireland. Mulranny is the home of colourful giant Fuchsias, Ferns and exotic plants. This plant life is celebrated each summer during the Mulranny Mediterranean Heather Festival. Mulranny, nestled at the foot of The Nephin Mountain Range, offers long sandy blue flag beaches and a relatively mild climate. Mulranny also plays host to a coastal lagoon. The Corraun Peninsula, which contains three mountain peaks, is situated across Clew Bay.
In 2011, Mulranny was a winner of the EDEN (European Destination of Excellence) award.
I was so pleased to see that the puffins were still at their nesting site as they would be leaving soon to go out to sea for the winter. We met people just a few days after we were there and they didn't see any puffins. Timing is everything! I had an absolutely amazing evening with them when they flew much closer. Actually, they flew in just as we were arriving so 5 more minutes and I could have set up properly. After they started wandering around, no one moved so they would not be disturbed. This is one of the wonderful close-up views that I got. Taken at Elliston, Newfoundland.
Thank you for your visit and comments. They are very much appreciated.
Long exposure taken under the pier in Ocean City, Maryland. The sun broke through the clouds during this long shutter, adding to the mood.
Taken from the place we stayed at a few weeks back called Misty Cliff.
Misty Cliffs is a little village that lies on the mountain and on the beach, divided only by Main Road, between Kommetjie and Scarborough, roughly an hour from Cape Town.
It acquired its name for its, rather obviously, misty cliffs - it overlooks the wild and tempestuous sea, and is renowned not only for incredible days and beautiful beaches, but also for windy and wet days, depending on the season. It was something of a magical little hamlet that is also a conservation village bordering on a nature reserve, a wonderful place to find peace and quiet and a spectacular setting at the best of times.
Above all, I love watching birds, not just photographing them!
However, during my visit to Bonavista, I was able to observe magnificent birds but also a behavior that left me speechless.
I watched these birds for several minutes without being able to tell if they were courting or quarreling!
There is no observable difference (male \ female) in Atlantic Puffins.
I put the photo in large format so that you can observe the look of each individual...
It's rather fascinating and there are so many scenarios in our head! : ))
