Atlanta. La capital del Sur. Un skyline modestito, nada que ver con Nueva York o Chicago, pero tiene su cosa.

Standing 19 feet tall and clutching a giant hot dog, this Paul "Bunyon" statue, is one of Route 66’s mythic Muffler Man Statues.

Paul Bunyan is a giant lumberjack in American and Canadian folklore. His exploits revolve around the tall tales of his superhuman labors. (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paul_Bunyan)
During the heydays of Rt 66, travellers passed hundreds of signs, murals and other forms of roadside advertising. Among the more famous stood the fiberglass giants created during the 1960s by International Fiberglass of Venice, California.
In 1965 one of these giants was placed in front of a restaurant on Rt 66 in Cicero, Illinois, and the original axe was swapped for a hot dog. After this place closed, thanks to the Illinois Route 66 Association, this giant has been moved in 2003 to Atlanta, as a route 66 icon.

I came upon this mural in downtown Atlanta, Georgia, very close to Centennial Olympic Park. Not sure of the artists, but I thought it was a nice, colorful addition to the cityscape.
The building on the left is the IBM Tower and is 50 stories tall..... so this fog/cloud base really had things covered. What I thought was remarkable was how clear the sky was.

These stunning pink lilies showcase their vibrant petals drenched in morning dew, standing gracefully among lush greenery. Their elegant stamens and budding companions hint at the season’s abundant life, while the soft tones of the garden path in the background add a natural, tranquil charm. A celebration of nature’s artistry captured in full bloom.
I don't go to downtown Atlanta very often now that I live in the burbs, but had the chance last night. You might recognize this scene from the Walking Dead series...

I've wanted for a while to try to take photos of lightning. So last night I saw a lot of cloud-cloud lightning, I tried to take photos of it... not bad for first attempt...

Have never toured this location but visited the previous "museum" at Underground Atlanta. Would not say I found it that interesting or worth the price of admittance. It is mainly a non-stop advertisement for COKE, so the tour should probably be free. As many people say, the most interesting part of the museum is the sampling room where you can try samples of soft drinks COKE makes that are sold in other countries. It's said the first COKE was sold in an Atlanta pharmacy in 1886 and first bottled in 1894. COKE has to rank among the most significant things associated with Atlanta.
