This image is of a horse and rider completing a jump over a hurdle. I composed it while visiting a show-jumping competition at Spruce Meadows, a world-acclaimed equestrian centre in Calgary, Alberta, Canada.
In this competition, world-class riders and their horses must must complete a circuit of jumps over barriers of various heights, some over water, within a certain time. If any of the barrier elements are knocked off, 4 seconds are added to the rider's time. If a horse baulks at a jump on more than one occasion, the horse and rider are disqualified.
A wonderful exhibition of sportsmanship, featuring the superb athletic skills of both the rider and the horse.

Buddy is an Australian Shepherd, a very unusual breed of dogs. I've heard that Border Collies & Australian Shepherds are considered the two smartest breeds in the world. They're very intuitive & they're natural born athletes. They can almost read your mind. If you're throwing the ball for him & you bank it off a wall, at an angle, he knows exactly where the ball will go after it leaves the wall. He'll always be there to catch it. When he is giving you this look, he's sizing you up.
Running 5km while pushing two children in a buggy has to be one of the most challenging types of athletic activity! Photographed with the Fujifilm X-T5.
