......and not a mannequin or any bright colours in sight! :-)

There's not much of a forest on these west-facing slopes, the forest tends to stick to the less exposed eastern half.

Ashdown has the appearance of a giant doll’s-house. Set in historic woodland in racecourse country near Lambourn, this unique 17th century chalk-block hunting lodge was built for the Queen of Bohemia by the Earl of Craven (remember Craven “A” cigarettes in the 1950s and 1960s?).

Built on love, Ashdown House has a fascinating history of romance, war and royalty and is open to the public thanks to the National Trust conservation charity.

A pond on the Ashdown Forest. 2012.

Series of five. I was taking my teabreak and twix when this DW flew across in front of me and landed on the glorious gorse. Just managed a few pics (with sticky chocolatey fingers) before it disappeared again.

Ashdown Forest is an ancient area of tranquil open heathland occupying the highest sandy ridge-top of the High Weald Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. It is situated some 30 miles (48 km) south of London in the county of East Sussex

Taken early this morning in Ashdown forest

Dropped Janina at the gym and decided to spend 2 hours at Old Lodge Reserve. Still misty and murky in the valleys.

DON'T KNOW WHAT THIS IS?........DIDN'T TASTE VERY NICE!

Photographed at the Old Lodge Nature Reserve.

Taken on a sunset walk on Ashdown Forest

Probably my favourite shot from 2022.

It's not the sharpest and the bracken stem to the left is obviously annoying but the timing and positioning of the basking snakes was just wonderful to see & capture.
