I'm supposed to act like they aren't here. Assuming there's a "they" at all. It may just be my imagination. Whatever it is that's watching, it's not human, unlike little dark eyed Donna. It doesn't ever blink. What does a scanner see? Into the head? Down into the heart? Does it see into me, into us? Clearly or darkly? I hope it sees clearly, because I can't any longer see into myself. I see only murk. I hope for everyone's sake the scanners do better. Because if the scanner sees only darkly, the way I do, then I'm cursed and cursed again. I'll only wind up dead this way, knowing very little, and getting that little fragment wrong too.

6 hours of Googling later I found out the latest drivers don't work with my new operating system.
Undeterred, I lugged the scanner from the studio up to my office.

3 hours of Googling later I discovered it is a CCI and has a dof of about f/0.
Good grief.

I know everyone has been dying to know. So I took a few pictures of the contents of my bag before I went to work. It doesn't have my keys or my cell phone because I hadn't left yet.
The question; is the ruined life of one person worth the knowledge that person's sacrifice will provide? Yet further...what if that person has no idea what is being done to him/her and is in fact punished for letting it happen?
'A Scanner Darkly' is a brilliant and thought provoking novel by Philip K Dick from (I believe) 1977, excellently adapted for the screen by Richard Linklater a couple of years ago.
Highly recommended.

in the middle, is indie king, Richard Linklater, film director extraordinaire of (to name a few) these lovely classics : School of Rock, Slacker, Before Sunrise / Before Sunset, ... and Dazed & Confused !!! (aah afternoons in high school spent watching this at the local indie theatre...sigh. good times. we probably saw this at the very least 50 times, including 3-4 times AT THE Movie theatre. not kidding. i know all the lines. loser i know...)
