We had sunshine on Wednesday for the first time in many days, and it ended with a beautiful sunset as well. Sunset shots are cliche, but this one also seemed like a natural for this week's Smile On Saturdays theme: Nature Is An Artist.
The view here shows Kent Lake in Michigan's Kensington Metropark. Though parts of the lake were covered with a thin coat of ice, other parts were clear, allowing for mirror-like reflections.

What a severe yet master artist old Winter is.... No longer the canvas and the pigments, but the marble and the chisel.

I let every thought
Thread a weft of yarn
Weaving through the warps
A tapestry of us
If I make my arms, the home you seek
If I sway my brush, would I capture thee?
If I hang your scars, in a gallery
As a work of artistry
May I clear your slate and wipe your conscience
Lay it on another shelf
I'll be anything you ever ask
I'll take your memories upon myself
If you keep my thoughts and thieve my wisdom
I will find another shell
I don't ever want to be the selfish reason
You don't ever find yourself
I felt every though
Claw the strands apart
Weaving into knots
A travesty of us
If I stay my arms, and I pull your sleeve
If I snap my brush, would you trust in me?
If I trace your scars, with the broken piece
As a work of artistry
May I clear your slate and wipe your conscience
Lay it on another shelf
I'll be anything you ever ask
I'll take your memories upon myself
If you keep my thoughts and thieve my wisdom
I will find another shell
I don't ever want to be the selfish reason
You don't ever find yourself
Watching the needle thread through every pore
She told me shading made everything more
Beautiful but I don't see it at all
I'm more deranged than before
Standing in paints as it pools on the ground
Colours of empathy blending with doubt
Witnessing everything melting around
Until I drown
May I clear your slate and wipe your conscience
Lay it on another shelf
I'll be anything you ever ask
I'll take your memories upon myself
If you keep my thoughts and thieve my wisdom
I will find another shell
I don't ever want to be the selfish reason
You don't ever find yourself
May I clear your slate and wipe your conscience
Lay it on another shelf
I'll be anything you ever ask
I'll take your memories upon myself
If you keep my thoughts and thieve my wisdom
I will find another shell
I don't ever want to be the selfish reason
You don't ever find yourself

Arch Rock may not be the largest arch in the desert southwest, but it certainly does not lack anything in aesthetics. The arch is large enough for a person to easily stand under.

21 Day - Artistry
Long day-time exposure (191 seconds) - Many ND filters, 3 to be exact for a combined strenght of between 12-14; - there is also a polarizer in use.

No that isn't a 'halo' effect around the upper shore-line, rather; that is the break in the water, which exposed for a long enough time is 'white' in appearance both at the shore break and wherever this is a shallow enough break over a sand bar. I did not use the Photoshop dodge tool, in fact I didn't use Photoshop.
There is a long white break far off the shore which at one point looks like a dodge tool halo; rest easy, it is not, that is the sand bar 'break'.
Macro shot of winter frosts on the enclosed glass window of my balcony! I find this frame with the lights and shadows look much better in Black and White.

Found this beautiful lacey leaf during our nature walk,..I kept it with my other collections that I found in wooded areas.

Explore the artificial moon inhabited by long forgotten machines. This is a very cool aetherpunk sim with lore to go along with it.

This monochrome image was taken in the hills of the Artist Palette area of Death Valley, California. The morning light on this peak caught my eye.
This shot of amazing topography was taken in Arches National Park, in the Fiery Furnace area. There are ranger-lead tours of this area that are offered each day, although due to COVID, the tours were not being conducted at time of my visit.
The lovely Bosham Harbour, West Sussex.
I love this place for walking and photography and will never tire of visiting. Every time I visit I see something new & different about it to try with the camera.

A mesmerizing capture of a layered swirling sea of crisp blue hues spotted in the frigid waters of Greenland.
I love the design of the Nasturtium blooms.....I can see how the bees are so attracted to them.
I am growing some in hanging baskets (started from seeds) and this bloom was backlit by the early morning sun.
Several pieces of ice scattered out on the lake ice made for some fun winter subjects. Likely thrown out by kids or someone wanting to watch them shatter.
Photos from a short walk at the park, sorry for so many. Temps have warmed for now so much of the ice is disappearing.
