Last week, we had another king tide, as well as 80km hour winds along the water. The wind and waves brought hundreds of logs to Ambleside Beach, as well as destroying the sailing club and some of the seawall, and the pier sustained damage, sadly.
I wish I had been there to witness the power of nature. But I did go there two days after hoping to photograph some of the aftermath. I couldn't get to the pier as it was closed, as was much of the seawall.
So I decided to do an ICM of the logs that had rolled onto the beach. Another photographer was walking into my scene and I thought she looked very ghostly here as she moved slowly along the shore.

We watched a video this week where the photographer discussed the question of “ Are you taking a picture or making a picture?” There was no definitive answer to that but it made you think about the differences. I think I “made this picture” because I made some deliberate choices to get the end result. I used a soft DOF to get an artistic look to the scene. Then I turned the image on it’s side. It brought the fresh fern fronds to life instead of just hanging down.
'Bursting Bubble is a creatively edited macro photograph of a soap bubble. Only a single sliver of the bubble was used to create this image.
I tried this shot when I was in Germany, but you can do this trick in every forest. You can achieve this with a vertical movement and a slightly longer shutter speed
The new high altitude road from Leh to Padum through Sirsir La is a piece of artwork at an average altifude of 15,000 ft....taken in Ladakh Himalayas, India
An overly processed shot of our beach are. It is so much fun to manipilate the normal looking shots.
