This was the display outside a shop in Marrakech, Morocco, which caught my eye . There were many lovely products from the hands of various skilled artisans . Altogether, for me, they make a striking collection.

Traditionally handed down over generations, making of ganesha idols is an art that is still nurtured by families in western India.

Attend this event in 2017, and somehow the only files I could find of my images was in Dropbox. Happy to find a few files there. Thank you for your appreciation, Gail
Testing my new TT Artisans 14mm lens at Lough Mask, County Mayo, Ireland. Nice starburst though lens flare can be an issue. Shot at f8 at 1/320 of a second on Lumix S1 full frame. Starbursts at f16 are razor sharp.

Laying the mosaic pavement requires backbreaking labor. It's an arduous job performed in a prostrate position, making this traditional art of calçeteiros both rare and expensive. When wet, the surfaces of "calçadas" tend to be slippery and can contribute to slips and falls. Also, the moisture breaks down the design requiring frequent maintenance. For this reason, today’s government is considering a way of creating a safer pavement for the pedestrian while at the same time maintaining the unique beauty of this art form as an important part of the nation's identity and heritage.

The Ganesha festival is the festival of the Indian God of all that is auspicious - the elephant God, Ganesha. Idols of Ganesha are brought into homes amidst fun, food and festivities and immersed in water 10 days later with a tearful goodbye. 2-3 months before the festival, sculptors and artists start work on making and painting these idols. Their work does not get celebrated as much as it deserves to be. Much of this art is familial and is passed down each generation. Here's an artisan at work in his workshop
This guy is a wood carving artist. He creates amazing works of art on the beach. He exhibits his work mostly at Pico de Piedra Beach in Aguada, PR. I discovered this spot while I was on vacation. The area is known by the "selfie spot" because people visit it to take selfies with the sculptures. He agreed to let me take a photo of him with his latest work that was about to finish.
~You can see other of his wooden creations in the link below.~
